As you may or may not know, Bay Medical Center in Panama City, FL is about to enter into a sale/lease agreement with Sacred Heart. This means indigent care will end in 2-5 years, but then the hospital will probably sell BMC or continue with a 40 year lease, where it will be absorbed by Sacred Heart and remain a private, for-profit hospital with strict adherence to Roman Catholic ideology as to patient care. It will no longer be a non-profit, special district hospital for all people, insured, underinsured or indigent.
This will affect YOU. You may be turned away. The only other hospital in Bay County is Gulf Coast, a smaller, private, for profit hospital.
There are two hearings and if you have used the services of BMC, you should be there. The County Commission will hear from the public on February 15 and 16, in the Government Center complex on 11th Street in Panama City, at 6 p.m.
Bring your questions and your suggestions. The current administration apparently ran it into the ground with poor financial decisions.
The News Herald and the County Press have covered this shameful state of affairs for our hospital, but the County Press did an expose' in two parts by Rosalie Schaeffer that is really good.
Please consider coming to the meetings on both nights. We must not let our hospital slip through our fingers. The Bay County Commission Chairman is George Gainer. He is vehemently against being rushed into this decision, but the rest of the Commissioners need to know how you feel. They are either on the fence or for the "deal".

I have no idea what the demographics - age, etc. of my readers are. But think about this.
When have you heard despot, tyrant, dictator, emperor, ruler, ever in our American dialog, referring to our daily condition? Yet, it's becoming common to hear it. I hear it in my own home, on television, on radio, from friends, from relatives. We are all in lockstep in this. Why then, are we so quiet? Why aren't we in the face of our elected officials, so they understand we are the power and they'd better not forget it?
Why are we treading water on this issue? We all acknowledge that our dear country, this precious land called the United States of America, has been taken over by evil, foreign both in the sense of place and abstractly, un-American, totally destructive to the nation, people from the usurper to the presidency, on down to his cabinet, and spilling over to every appointment, the entire two houses of Congress...all infiltrating and destroying our nation.
We are the strength of the nation. "They" in Washington, DC, in your capitol buildings, ARE NOT!
We were given the power. Government WAS NOT.
We are hurtling to complete disaster and it will come in just a few months. We say we are "fighting" them. With what? Limp potato chips left over from the Super Bowl? Toilet paper? Dandelion silk? Feathers?
I'm here. Where are you? Where will you be when the call comes to act? Cowering in a cellar?
What if it comes to a battle in the streets? Where will you be?
New Yorkers and other city dwellers...you are doomed. You realize that, don't you? Because a long time ago, you were numb to the idea that your Second Amendment rights were stripped away. You are sitting ducks in nicely compartmented, stacked residences and businesses. If the tyrant comes for you for any reason, you'll have no defense. You will go willingly, cowering in fear - to be vaccinated against your will, to be incarcerated in a FEMA camp, to be "disappeared", the possibilities are endless.

Upset that his plan to destroy dissenting opinion on the Internet failed with SOPA and PIPA, he is now trying another angle.
If Internet Piracy will not convince people to give up their rights, there is the old standby of cyber security.
Reid, at the behest of the Obama Regime, is pushing to have the Department of Homeland Security be granted broad regulatory authority over the Internet.
Why are the Democrats so obsessed with controlling the Internet? This is yet another try after the Stop Online Piracy Act and Prevent Internet Piracy Act blew up on them.
But why are they so obsessed with controlling the Internet?
It is simple: liberals do not like personal freedom. Oh, they want freedom of speech for their ideas and their causes, but not for anyone else’s.
Just look at what liberals do when someone disagrees with them. If someone disagrees with a liberal, they must be silenced. Just look at the demands to silence Fox News, back when Fox News was conservative. Liberals went after Pat Buchanan on MSNBC, forcing him off of that network because of his opinions. Ditto for Beck.
Why debate opinions when you can just silence them?
This is the great problem of liberalism today. It wants total conformity. More than that, liberalism wants total power.
The problem liberals have is most people in America do not like their ideas. Who wants to break the greatest health care system in the world and replace it with one that has been an abject failure everywhere it has been tried? No one in their right mind, except a liberal.
The problem with imposing a bad idea like socialist health care on America is that there are people who point out the fact that socialist health care sucks. Liberals do not like people pointing out the inconvenient truths, like their plans and programs do not work.
That is why in socialist nations, one of the first things the socialist leadership does is abolish a free press. Imposing your really bad ideas is much easier when there is no one pointing how bad the ideas are.
Does anyone really trust the Obama Regime or for that matter any other government with the power to control the Internet?
Our founding fathers included freedom of speech and freedom of the press in the First Amendment to the bill of rights for one very good reason. They knew it was the greatest counter to tyranny. As powerful as the Second Amendment is, the First Amendment is even more powerful and important.
Harry Reid and the Democrats hate the First Amendment and would love to see government given the power to regulate speech. Like petty tyrants everywhere, they do not take criticism well.
Harry Reid and the Democrats are going to push this Cyber security bill later this year. This will be another fight like SOPA and PIPA. This is another bill we must fight and defeat. Unfortunately for us, defending freedom is a constant and ongoing battle. One that we must win.
