THE BASIS OF PATRIOTISM

 

(This is not about the President or his Party or about Washington politics.  It is about each of us and what we are responsible for causing.  The President is our elected Leader and characterizing the following in terms of him and his actions is a legitimate current description of our Nation and where it is heading as I write.  JB)

 

As the President goes to foreign lands from Egypt to Mexico and apologizes for American actions.

 

As the President tells foreigners that he took an oath to uphold the Constitution BUT he will work to infringe the American right to bear arms that is specifically guaranteed in that Constitution.

 

As the President tells the citizens of a foreign country that American guns are the reason for the carnage throughout that country.

 

As the President attends a Banquet/Breakfast with Planned Parenthood while the facts of abortion in America emerge and the public is repulsed by the revelations in the Gosnell abortion trial in Philadelphia.

 

As the President publicly proclaims that he would not want his daughters “punished with a baby”, thereby lauding abortion while rejecting the first Right mentioned in the core of The Declaration of Independence that: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life”.

 

As the President refuses to enforce federal immigration laws or the legitimate Defense of Marriage Act simply because he disagrees with them.

 

As the President refuses to call Moslem Terror, that kills and maims Americans and Christians both nationally and internationally, what it is while allowing a known American Moslem mass-murderer to languish in federal custody without trial for more than three years as hearings are held about his beard before his trial for “workplace violence” even begins.

As the President repeatedly sets rich against poor to raise taxes and white against black as he second guesses white police actions and refuses to prosecute gross racial voter intimidation by black thugs.

 

As the President forces religious charities, hospitals, and other religious entities to pay for employees’ contraceptives and abortifacients in total violation of their Church- employers’ religious teachings and moral beliefs.

 

As the President has continued forcibly increasing the range and numbers of deadly, dangerous and destructive wolves and grizzly bears to the great harm and detriment of rural Americans and their communities in more than ten states.

 

As the President has provided misleading answers to the American public’s inquiries and ignored any attempts at legitimate oversight regarding federal government actions from protecting American patriots in Libya to distributing thousands of guns to Mexican criminals.

 

As all of the above have happened and are happening, I suggest we consider the actual results of these actions on American Society.  It is absolutely fair to say that:

-          Apologizing to foreigners on their soil for reputed American transgressions causes many Americans to dislike America, the American government, and other Americans they imagine did bad things.

-          Telling foreigners that the American Constitution can be changed simply by an activist President’s desires enforces the myth that former Presidents must have been bad men and encourages radical Americans to more deeply dislike opponents that point to the Constitution as to why they (the radicals) cannot have their way.

-          Telling foreigners that American guns are the reason for their murder rates causes American gun owners to distrust and dislike their government while encouraging gun control advocates to further resent gun owners and their Constitutional claims to a Right specifically described in The Bill of Rights.

-          Government participation in a Planned Parenthood soiree simply enflames the passions of Pro-Life Americans and encourages Pro-Abortion Americans to push for more government and medical authority to kill children outside the womb as well as sick, disabled and elderly Americans.  The results are even deeper dislike between even greater numbers of Americans.

-          A governmental position statement that a baby is a punishment establishes and enflames disgust among many Americans with any government that would take such a position as well as with any fellow citizens that support such values reminiscent of the repugnant policies of the vanquished dictatorships of the last century.

-          Failure to honestly and forthrightly oppose Moslem Terrorist Activities is causing great angst against government and Moslems as non-Moslem Americans fear for themselves, their children and grandchildren in an increasingly dangerous world.

-          Setting rich against poor and white against black simply deepens distrust and negative feelings between all of these groups (the vast majority of the population).

-          Forcing Churches, Ministers, Priests, Religious Employers and Religious citizens to support and pay for heinous actions like abortion and contraception, and forbidden actions like same-sex marriage and propagandizing children not only makes a mockery of “religious freedom”; it deepens resentments and hard feelings between advocates of these things and religious Americans concerned about their children and the values they will be forcibly exposed to.

-          Forcible imposition of wolves and grizzly bears over the vociferous objections of rural Americans forced thereby to live in fear for their families in a world with less economic development and employment opportunities has caused deep resentments against government and environmentalists responsible for the destruction of their communities and ways of life.

-          Government cover-ups and claims of transparency in the muddy waters of government activities leads to both widespread dislike of government and distrust of all the imagined bogeymen and fellow citizens we believe benefit from the disinformation and what it is hiding.

 

How to sum up all the foregoing?  I submit that we are not just “more divided”, we actually like each other less and less.  When we like each other (and our government) less and less; how can we love our country as much as before?  The answer is: we can’t.

 

If it is fair to say the Patriotism equates with Love of Country, and I believe it is, then Patriotism is in decline as Love of Country declines.

 

If you wonder why I have written this; it is because I came across a quotation this morning that sent a chill down my back.

 

In one of his many great books, Orthodoxy, G. K. Chesterton wrote:

“Men did not love Rome because she was great.

She was great because they had loved her.”

 

We are becoming more like Rome than any of us can imagine or admit.

Boston Marathon Bombing: Person Of Interest Cleared, Now To Be Deported On 'Security And Related Grounds'

I left this one alone until it became a topic during a House hearing Thursday morning, which raised questions as to why the Saudi National once considered a "person of interest", then cleared, is now reportedly being deported on "security and related grounds."

Key points, via TheBlaze:

• On Sean Hannity’s Fox News program Wednesday night, terror expert Steve Emerson cited sources saying Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday.
• Thursday morning, Glenn Beck revealed on radio that TheBlaze was informed by sources that the Saudi national’s visa had been revoked and he was, in fact, going to be deported on “security and related grounds.”
• Among other things, sources told TheBlaze that the Saudi national had ties to a well-connected Saudi family and that his deportation was set to be framed as a “voluntary” departure to be with his family.
• A file, called an “event,” was started on him three days ago.
• While discussing the issue on radio, TheBlaze’s Chief Content Officer Joel Cheatwood revealed that the government is now considering not deporting Ali Alharbi.

The video below is a tense exchange between South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, regarding the deportation of the Saudi National who has had his visa revoked.



Transcript of the discussion, via TheBlaze:

“We have someone who’s being deported due to national security concerns,” Duncan had said during a Capitol Hill hearing Thursday. “We’ve got this guy who was there, we know he was there…and yet we’re going to deport him? We’re going to remove him from the scene?”

“If I might, I am unaware of anyone who is being deported for national security concerns at all related to Boston,” Napolitano said.

“He is being deported,” Duncan said.

Napolitano said as she understood it, the man was not technically a person of interest or a suspect, and “this is is an example of why it is so important to let law enforcement do its job.”

“I want them to do their job,” Duncan said. “Wouldn’t you agree with me that it’s negligent for us as an American administration to deport someone who was reportedly at the scene of the bombing and we’re going to deport him, not to be able to question him anymore?”

“I am not going to answer that question it is so full of misstatements and misapprehension that it’s just not worthy of an answer…there’s been so much reported on this that’s been wrong I can’t even begin to tell you, congressman,” Napolitano replied. “We will provide you with accurate information as it becomes available.”

Notice Duncan mentioned the fact that the man was being deported, but it was  Napolitano that spoke of "national security concerns at all related to Boston," which wasn't Duncan's original point as he corrected her in the video saying he didn't say it was "related to Boston."

Duncan's whole point was that everyone there at the time of the bombing is being asked for eyewitness accounts and help to identify the bombers, yet one specific witness, who was reportedly a "person of interest" at one time, is now being removed from the country, for security reasons.

It was clear what Duncan was talking about, yet Napolitano deliberately misinterpreted and misquoted the whole intent of the question, and she wasn't even subtle about doing so.

It is suspicious enough that Rand Paul now says "we’ll definitely look into."

“I hope that this won’t be someone involved with a student visa. I don’t have any special details on the current situation,” he said.

“But I’m concerned in general that students from various countries that are dead set on harming Americans, that we have to be more careful and should have more scrutiny on these students when they arrive,” he added.

He went on to explain his concerns over the student visa program as it currently stands.

“From a general perspective, we need to have more scrutiny on student visas,” the Kentucky Republican said. “We need to know where the students are. Are they attending school? We need to do extensive background checks on people coming to visit us.”

“Because the 19 hijackers on 9/11,” he continued, “several of them were here on … student visas, and were not obeying even the rules of the student visa program.”

“Had we been paying attention we may well have sent some of these students back home because they weren’t attending school,” he added.

 There are questions being asked and Napolitano's refusal to address them are simply fueling the fire of conspiracy theories around the Internet.

It isn't helping any that Barack Obama had a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal to discus Syria, on Wednesday either.

As America mourns the deaths and catastrophic injuries from yesterday’s terrorist attack in Boston, including the death of an eight year old boy, there are jihadists around the world who are hoping this was an act of jihad (see article below from the SITE monitoring service).

As of this writing, the closest thing to a suspect is a Saudi national who is here in America on a student visa. So at this time, while we wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out to be an act of jihad, we just don’t know for sure yet.

Yesterday, President Obama urged Americans not to jump to conclusions regarding who perpetrated this attack. Fair enough.

But if it turns out this was an act of jihadist terrorism, isn’t it time President Obama and his administration stopped denying that jihad and radical Islam has anything to do with attacks like this?

After all, the jihadists don’t hesitate to call it jihad.

Amidst ongoing media reports of two explosions in the American city of Boston, Massachusetts, near the finish line of the marathon race on April 15, 2013, jihadists expressed their joy and hoped the blasts are acts of jihadi terrorism.

One forum member noted that over a week ago, a jihadist announced his desire to plan bombings in the United States, but was chastised by others for revealing such a plot publicly. He is referring to a posting on the Ansar al-Mujahideen forum on April 1 in which a jihadist tried to recruit members for an attack similar in impact to al-Qaeda's 9/11 strikes, but seemed focused on the attack being a suicide bombing. In other posts responding to the explosions, on the Ansar al-Mujahideen, al-Fida' and Shumukh al-Islam forums, jihadists gave pictures circulated in the media of the aftermath, showing injured people and a bloody sidewalk, and some hoped more bombings will follow.

Administrators of Shumukh al-Islam, a top-tier jihadist forum and primary source for official messages from al-Qaeda, placed a two scrolling messages atop the forum, the first stating: "Urgent // Casualties and Injuries in an Explosion that Shook the US State of Boston, and a State of Panic and Chaos Spreads Across America in General," and the second giving an oft-repeated statement from former al-Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden: "I swear by Allah the Great, who raised the sky without pillars, that America and those who live in America will not dream of security until we live it as a reality in Palestine and until all the disbelieving armies are expelled from the land of Muhammad, Allah's peace and prayer be upon him."
