YOU ARE CRAZY: New Psychiatric Guidelines Target Hoarding, Child Temper Tantrums, and a Host of Other “Illnesses” Mac Slavo May 21st, 2013 SHTFplan.com Approved Drug Cocktails for Kids It’s not a stretch to suggest that Americans are over medicated. In 2011 doctors across the nation wrote an astounding four billion medical prescriptions, amounting to an average of 13 prescriptions for every man, woman and child in the United States. In the next few weeks the American Psychiatric Associations is releasing their updated fifth version their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5); the so-called ‘bible’ of psychiatric diagnoses. The new manual promises to take mental illness and the use of prescription drugs to a whole new level. You may not be considered “crazy” or “mentally ill” today, but under the new guidelines experts say half of us will be diagnosed with a psychiatric condition in the future. The odds will probably be greater than 50 percent, according to the new manual, that you’ll have a mental disorder in your lifetime. … The increasing number of disorders comes about because some “problems” that were not previously considered to be mental illness were reclassified as such by their inclusion in the DSM—and it is the DSM that functionally defines mental illness in the United States. You see, in the DSM-5 the definitions for mental illness have been expanded to include a whole host of new symptoms and conditions. For example, under the new guidelines if your 6 to 18 year-old child throws a temper tantrum from time to time or has a mood swing, a psychiatrist could diagnose the condition as a “Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder” requiring professional treatment. Keep in mind that in psychiatry “professional treatment” almost always means prescription drugs. Are you over the age of 55 and have “senior moments” like forgetting where you put your keys? If so, then in all likelihood you have a neurocognitive disorder. Do you stockpile food, supplies or other items in anticipation of a disaster? If so, you may have what’s called an obsessive compulsive hoarding disorder. “The reality shows have raised awareness, but they tend to sensationalize the patients, and they rarely talk about treatment.” “The big change,” Dr. Saxena said, “will be an official recognition of hoarding as an important neuropsychic disorder that will increase screening, increase detection and diagnosis, and refer patients in for treatment.” While the new hoarding guidelines don’t specifically target “preparedness,” the fact is that some ‘professionals’ have already suggested that if you have any level of anxiety about the possibility of a major catastrophe, or your motivation for preparing for unforeseen events includes a distrust of the government, then you’ve got psychological problems. Now, with the DSM-5, they can officially diagnose you as crazy. Dr. Allen Frances, the author of Saving Normal, says that the new requirements will, ”turn everyday anxiety, eccentricity, forgetting and bad eating habits into mental disorders.” The changes being introduced by the DSM-5 are nothing short of a sweeping overhaul of our mental health care system, and they will have effects that many experts can’t even fathom. But those behind the DSM, who work very closely with government experts, know exactly what they’re doing. Let’s connect the dots a little bit to get an idea of how this is going to have a direct impact on your life in the very near future. Under the new regulations set forth by the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, certain groups of Americans like school children, seniors, those on government health plans, active-duty military personnel, and veterans will be required to submit to mental health screenings. Page 1137 of the The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act provides grants for the operation of school-based health centers required to include “mental health and substance abuse disorder assessments” for children and adolescents. On page 1191 is found a section on Mental Health Screening that refers to a program called “Healthy Aging, Living Well”. Persons ages 55-64 are being targeted for screening activities that can include “mental health/behavioral health and substance use disorders.” Obamacare requires mental health services for many other groups. These include Medicaid recipients, addicts, mothers with postpartum depression, the elderly, and soldiers. There’s even has a section called “Mental Health in Small Businesses” which awards grants to small businesses willing to provide workplace wellness programs that encourage “healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, increased physical activity and improved mental health.” Are you starting to see where this is going? You’ll be forced by your child’s school, by the government, and even your private employer to be involuntarily screened. And the psychiatrists who’ll be performing the diagnoses will be utilizing the criteria outlined in the DSM-5. According to the afforementioned statistics, there’s a 50% chance that those being screened will be found to have some type of mental health condition. But that’s just the beginning. As we know, once diagnosed, failure to take the treatment (e.g. medication) prescribed could then be deemed unlawful behavior, especially in the case of children. Not possible in America? Think again: Earlier this year, administrators from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school district called Albany County Child Protective Services, alleging child abuse when the Carrolls said they wanted to take Kyle off the drug. As a result, the Carrolls are now on a statewide list of alleged child abusers, and they have been thrust into an Orwellian family court battle to clear their name and to ensure their child isn’t removed from their home. “It’s beyond the point of whether he should be on it. Now it’s the point of them telling us what we’re going to do,” said Michael Carroll. “They’re telling me how to raise my child.” … “The schools are now using child protective services to enforce their own desires and their own policies,” said David Lansner, a New York City lawyer who has seen cases similar to the Carrolls’. “The parents’ authority is being undermined when people have to do what some public official wants,” Lansner added. “This thing is so scary,” It’s already happening, and with nearly 4 million children every year being (mis)diagnosed with ADHD, we can expect the numbers to rise significantly under the new DSM guidelines. It’s important to understand, however, that they’re not just targeting our children. They’re coming after all of us. The DSM-5, coupled with Obama Care legislation, will allow the government unprecedented control over lives. One such example is the targeting of America’s gun owners. Legislation is in the works in many states, as well as the U.S. Congress, that would require mental health screenings for firearms ownership. Should these bills pass, then about half of America’s gun owners would immediately lose their right to bear arms for any manner of “disorders” that could include stress, anxiety, depressed mood or even poor eating habits! And while gun control proponents would applaud the victory, what they fail to understand is that by green-lighting such a government intrusion, they are setting themselves up for future legislation that may restrict their own rights for activities that may include maintaining employment or caring for their children. Once a diagnoses is made the government will then have the ability to enforce it at the barrel of a gun. If your child is diagnosed with ADHD or separation anxiety disorder, and you refuse to feed them their prescription cocktail, then the government will step in and take your children under the guise of protecting them… from you! Likewise, you may one day be forced to be screened by your employer and found to be mentally ill (remember, 50/50 shot!). If you refuse the professional treatment that’s recommended, you could lose your job as a result. And because the Department of Homeland Security has been busy creating a Domestic No-Work List all prospective employers will know of your condition and your refusal to seek professional treatment. The possibilities, now that the door has been opened, are endless.

"Get Worse," Says Senate Author

At a Senate Finance Committee hearing for Marilyn Tavenner, the acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), who President Obama has nominated to the job, a senator who was instrumental in the drafting of Obamacare was critical of the Administration’s efforts to enforce it.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), a key architect of the law, warned Tavenner that it is complicated “and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.”

"I believe that the Affordable Care Act is probably the most complex piece of legislation ever passed by the United States Congress…Up to this point, it is just beyond comprehension," Rockefeller said.

Tavenner (pictured, above), 61, a former nurse, was Secretary of Health and Human Services in Virginia when Senator Tim Kaine was governor. She worked well with Republicans in the Legislature. Prior to that, Tavenner was employed by the Hospital Corporation of America, founded by the father of former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN).

Tavenner has the strong support of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), who said, “Obamacare remains very controversial. But if there is anyone that I trust to try to navigate the challenges, it is Marilyn Tavenner.”

If Tavenner wins full Senate approval as CMS administrator, as expected, she will be the first person to be confirmed to this position since Mark McClellan in the Bush Administration, who served from 2004 to 2006.

CMS administers Medicare and Medicaid, but much of Obamacare is administered by other elements of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

One big problem HHS has encountered is setting up the health insurance exchanges. The Department didn’t anticipate that only 17 states would opt to establish exchanges, leaving the federal government with the responsibility in the other 33 states.

As a result, the administration of this program will cost $4.4 billion, rather than the originally estimated $2 billion.

HHS had asked Congress for an additional $949 million to administer Obamacare, but this was denied. Instead, the existing funding for the program was slightly reduced by the sequester that affected most federal programs.

HHS has been able to transfer some money from other programs to the exchanges, but future congressional funding for Obamacare looks bleak.

Obamacare Imploding

1. Okay folks, I know you think the C-Span Channel that broadcasts all those Congressional hearings is boring, but, really, you should have been around to watch the Senate Finance Committee's hearing Wednesday on the Affordable Health Care Insurance Oversight.

2. Folks, you haven't seen so many faces of misery since you watched Les Miserables for three and a half hours...and they were all Democrats. And one of them, Senator Max Baucus, was the primary sponsor of Obamacare in the Senate!

3. Now, try to follow me here because this gets pretty complicated. (It seems that Nancy Pelosi was right; you DO have to pass Obamacare to find out what's in it...and the Democrats are now learning what the Republicans warned them about. It's an unworkable mess that is throwing millions of Americans off the health care rolls!)

4. Okay, apparently, tens of thousands of American employers began throwing workers off their health care plans and opting to pay the much lower federal fine for not offering health care for their workers. Thousands more are even now converting their full time workers to part time workers by limiting working hours per week to less than 30, in compliance with Obamacare rules. (Remember when Paul Ryan and the Republicans predicted employers would do this? Remember when Democrats were warned that employers would move to save operating expenses by moving their entire work force into federal healthcare exchanges?)

5. Now, these workers who have lost their health care benefits are busy trying to sign up for state health care exchanges. (There are Internet sites available if your state has agreed to sign up to Obamacare). However, when these American workers, soon to be without employee provided health care, go to the Health Exchange to sign up, they are finding they are not qualified! It seems that during the signup process, applicants are required to fill in various income and benefit data, which then flows over to IRS computers who then are to spit out what your premium costs will be and how much federal tax credits you'll receive in order to receive subsidies to help you afford health care premiums that are as much as 30% more than you were paying under your employer’s plan!

· Big Problem! The IRS is only allowing somewhere around 9% subsidy support for Obamacare Health care Exchange premiums that are priced so much higher than the worker was paying under his employer plan! (Surprise, Surprise! Remember Republicans warning that forcing working Americans to pay for the 30 million leaches who pay nothing for their health care under Medicaid would drive the premiums of working Americans higher?)

· Second Big Problem! The IRS computers won't mate up with the Health Care Exchange computers because the IRS computer system is obsolete! So when workers try to sign up for Obamacare the IRS and the Health Exchanges are telling applicants to go to pound sand!

6. And so fireworks really broke out at the Finance Committee hearings on Obamacare yesterday afternoon. Senator Max Baucus, (Dem), said.."how could this happen?" I'm hearing from my constituents that they and their families have been left out in the cold and are without health care because the Exchanges are not accepting them!". Quote from Senator Bill Nelson, (Dem), Florida "my constituents are not going to be happy to hear this administration failed to implement the necessary changes to accommodate health care applicants...someone has to pay for this!" Similar outrage was professed by Senator Ron Wyden (Dem) from Oregon.

7. Sadly, Obama Program Director for the Health care Affordability Act was on hand to lend testimony. All he could seem to do was sympathize with his Democratic buddies, saying that maybe the problems could be ironed out by the end of 2014 but could offer no ideas about how that could be done.

An Update! This morning a Harvard economics professor came on CNBC and announced that, according to a federal study his group just completed, the Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, is going to be forced to come back to this same committee, hat in hand, and request $700 billion dollars more be allocated to Obamacare just to pay for those automatically covered under current federal programs.

Also, sadly, the Wall Street Journal reported that, in addition to the 30 million Americans not currently covered under Obamacare, we can expect tens of millions more who will be left in the "no health care Twilight Zone"; those who were doing just fine with their employee health care plan until Obamacare was implemented this year. And many of those who were working 40 hour weeks will find themselves deemed "part time employees" working less than 30 hours per week and unable to afford Obama's premiums even if they could get through the application process.

And, as usual, while the working poor and the rapidly declining middle class will be out in the cold without any health care, the Medicaid/Welfare leaches have no worry. They are covered by that $700 billion dollar pot of gold that Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services will be demanding from Congress soon!

Sad. Doggone sad.

Oh, and, lest we forget --- today, like every other day, over 90 million LAW ABIDING AMERICAN GUN OWNERS, have murdered NO ONE!

Grassroots Democrats Begin to Oppose Obamacare by Art Kelly | 4/2/2013 The results from the most recent Kaiser Health Tracking Poll show grassroots Democrats are beginning to join independents and Republicans in opposing Obamacare. Recent news reports have documented how Obamacare is causing unemployment, increasing the cost of health insurance, causing employees to lose their health insurance at work, forcing small medical practices out of business, and attacking the religious beliefs of many Christians. As a result, it was only a matter of time before grassroots Democrats began to feel the pain from Obamacare and react against it.  While their negative opinions of the law are not yet as strong as independents and Republicans, it is clear they are beginning to understand its many flaws. Overall, only 37% of the people have a favorable view of Obamacare.  40% view it unfavorably and 23% are undecided. When asked if “you and your family will be better off or worse off” under Obamacare, just 21% of voters said they thought they would be better off!  29% said worse off and 40% said the same. When asked about the nation as a whole, 55% said the so-called Affordable Care Act would make the cost of health care worse. Only a tiny 21% thought the law would make health care more affordable, while 18% said it would stay the same. When asked about the effect of the law on the quality of care, 45% said it would be worse, 24% better, and 26% the same. The results by party showed that only 58% of Democrats had a favorable view of Obamacare, but that was far better than the 31% of independents and 18% of Republicans. But just 37% of Democrats thought the law would improve the cost of health care for the nation.  34% of Democrats said it would make the costs of health care go up and 26% said it will stay the same. On a personal level, only 23% of Democrats thought Obamacare would help make health care more affordable for them and their families and 26% thought it would drive costs up. 46% said it would be the same. Just 39% of Democrats said Obamacare would improve the quality of health care nationally. 25% of Democrats said it would make it worse and 34% believe it will stay the same. And on a personal level, only 25% of Democrats believe Obamacare will improve the quality of care for themselves.  16% said it would make their own quality of health care worse and 46% said it would be the same. These poll results spell major trouble for Democratic candidates in the 2014 congressional elections. It’s not a coincidence that 34 Senate Democrats joined all 45 Republicans in voting for an amendment to the Senate Budget that would repeal the 2.3% Obamacare tax on the sale of medical devices, which has already resulted in much unemployment in that industry. The National Journal examined this issue from a multi-year perspective:  “In 2010, Republicans, helped in part by public opposition to the law, won back the House and picked up seats in the Senate. Last year, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s embrace of the individual mandate while Massachusetts governor largely neutralized what had been a potent political issue.” The National Journal continued:  “In the next two years, Republicans are looking to bring the issue back in a big way. And they’ll start by trying to brand the law as one that costs too much and is not working as promised.” With grassroots Democrats becoming disillusioned with Obamacare, Democratic members of the House and Senate are likely to become more open to changes in order to make the law less onerous. I will bet you (if we are alive in a year - or until 2016, which I seriously doubt), that this project is all about enforced, "mechanical" or "chemical" mind control and compliancy.
