There were virtually no bees in my yard last year. No wasps. No butterflies. No moths.
I don't use pesticides, but I have watched the diminishing numbers of insects, including bees every year.
Proof of this was my beautiful Confederate Rose. It's a shrubby tree that is now towering at the back of my yard. You can see its picture above. The flowers open in the morning, snow white.
By noon, they are pink. In the evening they are rose. When the cool weather came, it dropped its leaves.
There was ONE SEED POD ON THE TREE. One. Last year it was covered. It was a good year for flowers - it was covered with them. But none, except one was pollinated. The branches bend so I got a good look at what was going on inside the flowers. Nothing.
We are bombarded with chemtrails, as you've seen on this blog. Who knows really what the witch's brew in that stream is raining down on us, except that we know it's bad.

Efforts to Prevent Another Fast and Furious Stripped by Obama
In November, the president signed the Justice Department appropriations bill, which included language from Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, prohibiting federal agencies from facilitating the transfer of an operable firearm to an individual known or suspected to be in a drug cartel, unless they monitor the weapon at all times.
Now Mr. Obama is proposing to remove that provision from the 2013 spending bill, thus making it legal to revive gun-walking operations in the future. The White House justification is merely that the prohibition is “not necessary.”
Second, the budget pushes anti-Second Amendment policies.
Mr. Obama’s budget contains other gun-grabbing surprises. The White House is looking to reclaim authority to destroy surplus M1 Garand rifles and M1 Carbines. For 30 years, the Defense Department has been blocked from scrapping these collectible firearms that served our soldiers well in World War II and the Korean War. The administration also wants to melt down the military’s spent brass casings, thwarting gun owners who have been buying and recycling the surplus materials.
The president’s budget would also restore millions in funding to the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control so they can pump out junk science studies claiming handguns are a public health hazard.
Why would the president strip language to prevent another lethal Fast and Furious program? A program responsible for the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and hundreds of Mexican citizens? It seems Obama is on the same page as former Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Division Bill Newell, who was in charge of Fast and Furious. Newell said in July during Congressional testimony that he would run the program again after accessing the risk. Instead of holding his attorney general responsible for reckless decisions within the Department of Justice surrouding Fast and Furious, President Obama is giving Eric Holder the chance to run the program all over again.

Feds shut down Amish farm for selling fresh milk

Salisbury/The Washington Times)The FDA won its two-year fight to shut down an Amish farmer who was selling fresh raw milk to eager consumers in the Washington, D.C., region after a judge this month banned Daniel Allgyer from selling his milk across state lines and he told his customers he would shut down his farm altogether.
The decision has enraged Mr. Allgyer’s supporters, some of whom have been buying from him for six years and say the government is interfering with their parental rights to feed their children.
But the Food and Drug Administration, which launched a full investigation complete with a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and a straw-purchase sting operation against Mr. Allgyer’s Rainbow Acres Farm, said unpasteurized milk is unsafe and it was exercising its due authority to stop sales of the milk from one state to another.
Adding to Mr. Allgyer’s troubles, Judge Lawrence F. Stengel said that if the farmer is found to violate the law again, he will have to pay the FDA’s costs for investigating and prosecuting him.
His customers are wary of talking publicly, fearing the FDA will come after them.
“I can’t believe in 2012 the federal government is raiding Amish farmers at gunpoint all over a basic human right to eat natural food,” said one of them, who asked not to be named but received weekly shipments of eggs, milk, honey and butter from Rainbow Acres, a farm near Lancaster, Pa. “In Maryland, they force taxpayers to pay for abortions, but God forbid we want the same milk our grandparents drank.”
The FDA, though, said the judge made the right call in halting Mr. Allgyer’s cross-border sales.
“Intrastate sale of raw milk is allowed in Pennsylvania, and Mr. Allgyer had previously received a warning letter advising him that interstate sale of raw milk for human consumption is illegal,” agency spokeswoman Siobhan DeLancey said.
Neither the FDA nor the Justice Department, which pursued the legal case, provided numbers to The Washington Times on the cost of the investigation and court fight.
Fans of fresh milk, which they also call raw milk, attribute all kinds of health benefits to it, including better teeth and stronger immune systems. Raw milk is particularly popular among parents who want it for their children.
In a unique twist, the movement unites people on the left and the right who argue that the federal government has no business controlling what people choose to consume.
In a rally last year, they drank fresh milk in a park across Constitution Avenue from the Senate.
But the FDA says it concluded, after extensive study along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that raw milk is never safer than pasteurized milk. It disputes those who say pasteurization — the process of heating food to kill harmful organisms — makes it less healthy.
Many food-safety researchers say pasteurization, which became widespread in the 1920s and 1930s, dramatically reduced instances of milk-transmitted diseases such as typhoid fever and diphtheria.
The FDA began looking into Mr. Allgyer’s operations in late 2009, when an investigator in the agency’s Baltimore office used aliases to sign up for a Yahoo user group made up of Rainbow Acres customers.
The investigator placed orders for fresh milk and had it delivered to private residences in Maryland, where it was picked up and documented as evidence in the case. By crossing state lines, the milk became part of interstate commerce and thus subject to the FDA’s ban.
At one point, FDA employees made a 5 a.m. visit to Mr. Allgyer’s farm. He turned them away, but not before they observed milk containers labeled for shipment to Maryland.
After the FDA first took action, Mr. Allgyer changed his business model. He arranged to sell shares in the cows to his customers, arguing that they owned the milk and he was only transferring it to them.
Judge Stengel called that deal “merely a subterfuge.” “The practical result of the arrangement is that consumers pay money to Mr. Allgyer and receive raw milk,” the judge wrote in a 13-page opinion.
Grassfed On the Hill Buying Club has about 500 active members.
Liz Reitzig, a mother who has become a raw-milk activist and is an organizer of the group, said the lawyers who pursued the case against Mr. Allgyer ought to “be ashamed.”
“Many families are dependent on the milk for health reasons or nutritional needs, so a lot of people will be desperately trying to find another source now,” she said.

The right of decent private citizens to personally possess, transport, and responsibly use arms without government interference is the ultimate freedom and the main pillar supporting all other liberties. Few cultures have allowed their general population access to weapons, the tools of power, to the same degree as the United States. Instead, most societies have restricted the keeping and bearing of arms to a select few power brokers and their agents, often resulting in oppression on a grand scale.
Despite a massive amount of historical evidence to the contrary, there is a substantial body of Americans, many occupying positions of influence, who contend that the abrogation of the Second Amendment is the quickest path to domestic tranquility. Since this is as absurd as advocating blood-letting as a cure for anemia, it would seem advisable to question the motives and mentalities of the gun control advocates themselves.
In my observation, weapon prohibitionists can be broken down into seven major categories. Even though their motives may vary they all pose a mortal threat to liberty.
ELITISTS
AUTHORITARIANS
CRIMINALS
It goes without saying that career criminals would like to see the public disarmed for obvious reasons. A well-armed population makes crimes such as assault, robbery, and burglary hazardous for the perpetrator and this is bad for "business." Also, it would seem that even non-violent or "white collar" criminals live in constant fear of retribution from the public that they financially bleed and would therefore prefer that the public be disarmed. Evidence supporting this hypothesis can be gathered by studying the Second Amendment voting records of those legislators who have been convicted of willful misconduct.
THE FEARFUL
The desire to assert oneself exists in nearly everyone, wimps included, so cowards seek out tame enemies against whom they can ply their pitiful brand of machismo. Instead of the sociopaths who commit acts of wanton aggression with guns, guns themselves and responsible gun owners are the main targets of their attacks. After all, real criminals are dangerous, so cowards prefer doing battle with inanimate objects that do not have a will of their own and decent law-abiding people whose high level of integrity and self discipline prevent them from physically lashing out against mere verbal assailants, however obnoxious they may be.
IDEOLOGICAL CHAMELEONS
Ideological chameleons follow the simple social strategy of avoiding controversy and confrontation by espousing the beliefs of the people in their immediate vicinity or advocating the philosophy of those who scream the loudest in a debate. Quite a few supposedly pro Second Amendment public officials have shown themselves to be ideological chameleons when they supported restrictions on the private possession of military style semiautomatic rifles following recent atrocities in which such firearms were employed. Like their reptilian namesake, people who merely blend in with the ambient philosophical foliage seem to have little insight into the moral and social ramifications of their actions. Political and/or economic gain along with avoidance of confrontation are their only goals.
SECURITY MONOPOLISTS
THE DYSFUNCTIONALLY UNWORLDLY
The price of liberty is eternal vigilance, and it behooves all vigilant lovers of liberty to know and be able to recognize the various types of arms prohibitionists and understand their differing but equally dangerous motives. Acquiring knowledge of one’s foes is the first step toward defeating them. We must never forget that a threat to private firearms ownership is a threat to all freedoms.
The inalienable and fundamental right to keep and bear arms which is enumerated by (but actually predates) the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is not about hunting, gun collecting, or target shooting. Its purpose is to insure that every responsible American personally possesses the means to defend the Republic from all forms of tyranny, within and without. It is what permits the other nine Amendments in the Bill of Rights to be more than mere hollow phrases on a piece of paper. Its free exercise is the antithesis of serfdom and the only meaningful form of holocaust insurance known to man.
We must never insult and degrade the spirits of our Founding Fathers by permitting the Second Amendment, the pillar of freedom, to be destroyed by the cold flame of legislative ink.

"PERPETUITY" MEANS NOTHING IN BAY COUNTY, FLORIDA
Last night I witnessed a mass brainwashing and a hostile takeover of Bay Medical Center by Sacred Heart Hospital.
The Bay County Commission gave public lip service by sitting, staring into space, while some of us (including Dr. Victor Ortega) tried to inform them with facts. The Commission, who gave us incinerator problems, band-aid fix cement pillows to cover up an under-the-Bay sewer line, the airport to nowhere at which three thousand plus jobs never materialized, no international flights as promised, rising flight prices, the loss of a carrier, continuing environmental problems, allied businesses that never came (and if you ask the pilots on the Atlanta-ECP flights, they are terrified of the mushy runway on hot summer days), are stealing a taxpayer-funded public, non-profit hospital, organized under the Hill-Burton Act which was absorbed by the Public Services Act, Title XVI, a federal act providing Hill-Burton services to the indigent and under-insured available “in perpetuity”; meaning, “forever”. There are remedies available for failing public, non-profit hospitals through this act, and whoever is in charge among the Bay County snake oil salesmen, someone dropped the ball, was unaware, or has kept this hidden. This is a serious problem, and because of this, a Grand Jury should be seated to explore why.
Earlier, I picked up a cursory (and in no way complete) printout of some of the capital items in the Radiology Department. Remember, it is “no way complete”; $10 million dollars worth. I stepped into the lobby of the new wing, the baby of the CEO, Steve Johnson (formerly of Sacred Heart), who admittedly spear-headed this disaster despite all economic indicators pointed to a failing economy under the premise like the airport – if you build it they will come. Without a Certificate of Need (CON) rooms were closed in the main hospital, and new, luxury private rooms were made, as well as a new restaurant with a brick pizza oven and a gourmet menu – in Panama City, Florida where any restaurant you choose can be found in within 20 minutes.
I was dyspeptic. The lobby and garden is huge, stunning and something you would see in a high end hotel. Why wasn’t this money put into patient care and more state-of-the-art diagnostic/treatment equipment and/or staff? The opulence is embarrassing and obscene for our depressed community, but not for Sacred Heart to come in and scoop up.
One of the speakers, our County attorney, Mr. Arline, I believe, mentioned questioning Mr. Johnson’s allegiance to Sacred Heart before hiring him. Now I know what my gut told me is true. For the ten years the hospital knew there was trouble looming, Johnson was planning the lease/sale all the time.
We have five Commissioners, all of them businessmen. I questioned why two audits weren’t done by “our” side (the County); a complete financial audit and a physical plant audit, right down to the last staple in the last staple gun and the last gauze pad. I asked the Chairman of the Commission why this wasn’t done and he doesn’t know! Supposedly they have taken the word of Sacred Heart who use a formula to guess at this number.
I wonder at the ex-Sheriff who won his seat on the Commission by 15 votes, to whom this transaction was handed. He has no experience in healthcare, whatsoever.
I wonder at the man sitting in front of me in the first row making notes on a yellow legal pad prior to the meeting. His first entry was “Golden Parachutes”. Golden Parachutes? Who’s getting them?
Most of the audience, I’m guessing by the big, blue buttons, was staff and management. Funny thing about the management at BMC – they have been known to intimidate the staff before when union attempts were made. The threat issued was the firing of any employee who dared try to organize or vote for the union. Manipulation works because the staff is ignorant of the facts.
No one is talking about the current Obamacare/HHS edict concerning birth control and how, if HHS stands firm and does not back down, it will affect religious hospitals. In the literature I have found, Sacred Heart specifically will be forced to close some or all its hospitals because they will not comply on religious grounds. What happens then, to BMC? What happens to our Muslim physicians?
Because of the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church, and the changing attitude of the hospital formerly known as BMC, under the control of Monsignor Reed in Tallahassee, your young daughter, in need of a morning after pill or termination of pregnancy because of rape or incest, will be turned away whether or not you have insurance. If you aren’t insured, where will you go?
I guess there's always Planned Parenthood.
Employees of BMC are going to find it very difficult when their own personal religious ideology is challenged by the Church of Rome and the new management of Sacred Heart.
We have only two hospitals. Gulf Coast Hospital is private. BMC today, is public, non-profit, serving five counties. We need proof that all our needs are met, even women’s services. In the Bible Belt, you are going to feel the full impact of the strong hand of Roman Catholicism, and you are going to suffer for it. You have never been exposed; therefore, you are ignorant, and ignorant you will stay until something happens to you.
BMC’s Board and the County Commission are putting their faith into the maze of Sacred Heart spin-offs who handle leases and sales. Take LHP Hospital group for instance, located in Plano, Texas. It is not a Florida corporation, and it has a poor track record.
Touted as a for-profit private health care investment corporation, whose management team doesn’t have much prior experience in health care how can they be trusted? LHP remains unproven in successes. What it really is, is a hedge fund. You can read more about this in Rosalie Schaeffer’s expose’ on the Sacred Heart acquisition in the two-part article she wrote in the “County Press”, located in Bay County, FL and you can find it in the paper’s archives.
To add a little fat to the fire, the public is unaware of a Florida bill on Sen. Rene Garcia’s website dealing with the acquisition of hospitals. The original legislation states that a public referendum be held prior to a sale/lease of any hospital. It was handed over to Sen. Don Gaetz with another number (on his website). He changed the wording and deleted the public referendum, so that only the Board of the hospital and the County Commission can vote on the issue. Why did Gaetz strike the language that gave the public a vote? The timing is suspiciously coincidental; January, 2012. What makes it more so is that Sen. Gaetz lives about 15 miles from Sacred Heart.
I see a lot of room for corruption here. It is unreasonable to sell or lease BMC for 40 years if audits aren’t done. It is unreasonable to fast track such a vital decision because the Public Services Act, Title XVI should have been consulted by these seasoned healthcare professionals. The information is there to help failing public, non-profit hospitals with financial help. And it is unreasonable not to have the sale/lease available for bid.
It is important that we take our blinders off and see this as it really is. It is a theft of a very high-tech, superior hospital with a great reputation that gives care to everyone in need by a private, for-profit religious hospital who is giving us literally pennies on the dollar when the silver bullet to its financial woes is available by federal law!
The current administration and the Board of BMC who by design or by ignorance have run BMC aground must put this decision on hold, and the Bay County Commission and a Grand Jury investigate the missing audits and the options under the Public Services Act Title XVI. The Public Services Act XVI, the explanation of a Florida Special District and the Hill-Burton Act are found on the internet. They are in plain English and you can easily understand them.
Shands in Jacksonville supports my understanding of mismanaged indigent care costs.
Call them and find out for yourself. They spend less in indigent care than BMC does and they are profiting. It’s a huge hospital with almost 700 beds. Is there a problem here? You betcha.
I suggested when I spoke last night, the possibility of making BMC a teaching hospital under Florida State University or Gulf Coast State College. The grants would pour in and the financial ills would be a thing of the past. We would grow as a community, the economy would improve, BMC would grow and provide jobs and exceptional healthcare for many and those jobs would keep our children here.

The Commission, who gave us incinerator problems, band-aid fix cement pillows to cover up an under-the-Bay sewer line, the airport to nowhere at which three thousand plus jobs never materialized, no international flights as promised, rising flight prices, the loss of a carrier, continuing environmental problems, allied businesses that never came (and if you ask the pilots on the Atlanta-ECP flights, they are terrified of the mushy runway on hot summer days), are stealing a taxpayer-funded public, non-profit hospital, organized under the Hill-Burton Act which was absorbed by the Public Services Act, Title XVI, a federal act providing Hill-Burton services to the indigent and under-insured available “in perpetuity”; meaning, “forever”. There are remedies available for failing public, non-profit hospitals through this act, and whoever is in charge among the Bay County snake oil salesmen, someone dropped the ball, was unaware, or has kept this hidden. This is a serious problem, and because of this, a Grand Jury should be seated to explore why.
Earlier, I picked up a cursory (and in no way complete) printout of some of the capital items in the Radiology Department. Remember, it is “no way complete”; $10 million dollars worth. I stepped into the lobby of the new wing, the baby of the CEO, Steve Johnson (formerly of Sacred Heart), who admittedly spear-headed this disaster despite all economic indicators pointed to a failing economy under the premise like the airport – if you build it they will come. Without a Certificate of Need (CON) rooms were closed in the main hospital, and new, luxury private rooms were made, as well as a new restaurant with a brick pizza oven and a gourmet menu – in Panama City, Florida where any restaurant you choose can be found in within 20 minutes.
I was dyspeptic. The lobby and garden is huge, stunning and something you would see in a high end hotel. Why wasn’t this money put into patient care and more state-of-the-art diagnostic/treatment equipment and/or staff? The opulence is embarrassing and obscene for our depressed community, but not for Sacred Heart to come in and scoop up.
One of the speakers, our County attorney, Mr. Arline, I believe, mentioned questioning Mr. Johnson’s allegiance to Sacred Heart before hiring him. Now I know what my gut told me is true. For the ten years the hospital knew there was trouble looming, Johnson was planning the lease/sale all the time.
We have five Commissioners, all of them businessmen. I questioned why two audits weren’t done by “our” side (the County); a complete financial audit and a physical plant audit, right down to the last staple in the last staple gun and the last gauze pad. I asked the Chairman of the Commission why this wasn’t done and he doesn’t know! Supposedly they have taken the word of Sacred Heart who use a formula to guess at this number.
I wonder at the ex-Sheriff who won his seat on the Commission by 15 votes, to whom this transaction was handed. He has no experience in healthcare, whatsoever.
I wonder at the man sitting in front of me in the first row making notes on a yellow legal pad prior to the meeting. His first entry was “Golden Parachutes”. Golden Parachutes? Who’s getting them?
Most of the audience, I’m guessing by the big, blue buttons, was staff and management. Funny thing about the management at BMC – they have been known to intimidate the staff before when union attempts were made. The threat issued was the firing of any employee who dared try to organize or vote for the union. Manipulation works because the staff is ignorant of the facts.
No one is talking about the current Obamacare/HHS edict concerning birth control and how, if HHS stands firm and does not back down, it will affect religious hospitals. In the literature I have found, Sacred Heart specifically will be forced to close some or all its hospitals because they will not comply on religious grounds. What happens then, to BMC? What happens to our Muslim physicians?
Because of the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church, and the changing attitude of the hospital formerly known as BMC, under the control of Monsignor Reed in Tallahassee, your young daughter, in need of a morning after pill or termination of pregnancy because of rape or incest, will be turned away whether or not you have insurance. If you aren’t insured, where will you go?
I guess there's always Planned Parenthood.
Employees of BMC are going to find it very difficult when their own personal religious ideology is challenged by the Church of Rome and the new management of Sacred Heart.
We have only two hospitals. Gulf Coast Hospital is private. BMC today, is public, non-profit, serving five counties. We need proof that all our needs are met, even women’s services. In the Bible Belt, you are going to feel the full impact of the strong hand of Roman Catholicism, and you are going to suffer for it. You have never been exposed; therefore, you are ignorant, and ignorant you will stay until something happens to you.
BMC’s Board and the County Commission are putting their faith into the maze of Sacred Heart spin-offs who handle leases and sales. Take LHP Hospital group for instance, located in Plano, Texas. It is not a Florida corporation, and it has a poor track record.
Touted as a for-profit private health care investment corporation, whose management team doesn’t have much prior experience in health care how can they be trusted? LHP remains unproven in successes. What it really is, is a hedge fund. You can read more about this in Rosalie Schaeffer’s expose’ on the Sacred Heart acquisition in the two-part article she wrote in the “County Press”, located in Bay County, FL and you can find it in the paper’s archives.
To add a little fat to the fire, the public is unaware of a Florida bill on Sen. Rene Garcia’s website dealing with the acquisition of hospitals. The original legislation states that a public referendum be held prior to a sale/lease of any hospital. It was handed over to Sen. Don Gaetz with another number (on his website). He changed the wording and deleted the public referendum, so that only the Board of the hospital and the County Commission can vote on the issue. Why did Gaetz strike the language that gave the public a vote? The timing is suspiciously coincidental; January, 2012. What makes it more so is that Sen. Gaetz lives about 15 miles from Sacred Heart.
I see a lot of room for corruption here. It is unreasonable to sell or lease BMC for 40 years if audits aren’t done. It is unreasonable to fast track such a vital decision because the Public Services Act, Title XVI should have been consulted by these seasoned healthcare professionals. The information is there to help failing public, non-profit hospitals with financial help. And it is unreasonable not to have the sale/lease available for bid.
It is important that we take our blinders off and see this as it really is. It is a theft of a very high-tech, superior hospital with a great reputation that gives care to everyone in need by a private, for-profit religious hospital who is giving us literally pennies on the dollar when the silver bullet to its financial woes is available by federal law!
The current administration and the Board of BMC who by design or by ignorance have run BMC aground must put this decision on hold, and the Bay County Commission and a Grand Jury investigate the missing audits and the options under the Public Services Act Title XVI. The Public Services Act XVI, the explanation of a Florida Special District and the Hill-Burton Act are found on the internet. They are in plain English and you can easily understand them.
Shands in Jacksonville supports my understanding of mismanaged indigent care costs.
Call them and find out for yourself. They spend less in indigent care than BMC does and they are profiting. It’s a huge hospital with almost 700 beds. Is there a problem here? You betcha.
I suggested when I spoke last night, the possibility of making BMC a teaching hospital under Florida State University or Gulf Coast State College. The grants would pour in and the financial ills would be a thing of the past. We would grow as a community, the economy would improve, BMC would grow and provide jobs and exceptional healthcare for many and those jobs would keep our children here.
As it stands, I believe again that the public and the employees of BMC have been duped. Law is being ignored or hidden from public view. This looks like fraud to me.

But this is way, way over the top, and if this is taught in public schools, parents need to act.
It is my personal belief that being gay or lesbian is determined prior to birth, and we have NO choice. That does not mean that person doesn't have value in the community or to themselves. I have had lesbian and gay friends who are absolutely wonderful people. Admirable people. I have never been asked to join them, or made to feel uncomfortable. We all are who we are. Just people.
But I don't go along with making a point of your sexuality, and I sure don't think this information is appropriate in schools.
So yes, defund Planned Parenthood. If you want abortion (because it's still legal), you should have it. But I don't want to pay for it. Late term abortions, where a fetus is viable and can survive on its own - no. That is murder. This will make a lot of you angry. But circumstances are circumstances, and you have not walked in a woman's shoes who needs an abortion. Don't be so quick to judge.

“At that point, the Social Security Administration will not have the legal means payroll taxes coming in, or holdings in the trust fund to pay full benefits, and as a result it will have to cut benefits across the board to match payroll [taxes] coming in,” Mr. Holtz-Eakin said. “That’s a disgraceful plan.”

Social Security has taken in less in taxes than it has paid out in benefits since 2010, but the shortfall has beenmade up as the government has dipped into IOUs left in the trust funds from previous years.
Monday’s numbers, though, show the combined trust fund itself will run a deficit of $2.6 billion in 2022. Together, Medicare and Social Security make up what Republicans called the “twin tidal waves” of an impending fiscal calamity. Combined with Medicaid, the three big entitlements will equal nearly 15 percent of U.S. gross domestic product by 2022.
Mr. Obama did not propose any broad changes in his blueprint, but the White House said he did take some small steps on Medicare and Medicaid, calling for slicing out $362 billion from what the programs would have spent over the next decade, or 1.7 percent of the 10-year cost for both programs.
“It doesn’t mean we’ve solved every problem for the country going forward. Certainly, that wouldn’t be the case,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “But it does it in a responsible way, and it does it in a way that proves, as other bipartisan commissions have shown, that you do not have to decimate Medicare, end it as we know it.”
All sides agree that entitlement programs are the major driver in deficits and long-term debt, and will soon begin to crowd out regular defense and domestic needs. Both parties have struggled to summon the courage to find a solution.
In his budget, Mr. Obama focused instead on shorter-term issues. He proposed some specific spending boosts, accompanied by cuts elsewhere, and spent most of his effort pushing for tax increases on the wealthiest Americans, arguing that the budget and economic fairness demanded it.
In his seven-page letter to Congress, Mr. Obama didn’t mention Social Security, but he did praise changes to Medicare and Medicaid that he said would sweat out more than $360 billion in savings.
Chief among those efforts is means-testing two parts of Medicare so that higher-income seniors would pay more for their coverage.
“The goal of these reforms is to make these critical programs more effective and efficient, and help make sure our health care system rewards high-quality medicine,” Mr. Obama said in his letter to Congress. “What it does not do — and what I will not support — are efforts to turn Medicare into a voucher or Medicaid into a block grant. Doing so would weaken both programs and break the promise that we have made to American seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families, a promise I am committed to keeping.”
Republicans said if Mr. Obama sees the same dire long-term numbers on Medicare and Social Security, he should have suggested serious changes.
“If you share the view that there ought to be changes in the ‘out years,’ why aren’t they in the budget?” said Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee. “If you recognize, I think, as all of us do, that Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid are programs in dire danger and need to be fixed, why don’t you do it today?”

In two days we have teachers making the kids sip semen and molesting them, so while the investigation continues, YOUR tax dollars are funding a sabbatical for the entire faculty instead of the two men who did this, and now this?
I used to live in California, and really resented the term "Land of Fruits and Nuts". Well, now it's worse. Are you all drugged? Is there something added to the water coming that's causing your brains to die?

YESTERDAY I GOT A BIG SURPRISE!
In March of 2008 I took a picture of a cold dragonfly in my hand. She was a slender baskettail. Beautiful wing markings. I love taking photos of them and of course, butterflies. Always a challenge. You can't just tell them to "Stand still!"
I'm on a list of southern odonata lovers and I asked for an ID. Giff Beaton is a naturalist, an airline pilot, takes people on WINGS birding tours, and writer of field guides was "envious" because he'd never seen one.
Dennis Paulson from Slater Museum of Natural History, University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, said they are difficult to find and he might want to put it in his newest field guide. The one he had was posed (chilled, photographed and released). This one was just cold, hanging
outside on the siding near the back door. Actually, I thought a spider had gotten to it. I took her picture and put her in the morning sun to warm up.
I got another email asking for the photo. I sent him four different ones.
Then he asked me to let him use one and to give my approval and after I said "yes", I forgot about it.
Today I got a package. It's this HUMUNGOUS, 538 page field guide, "Dragonflies and Damselflies of the East" (eastern US and Canada) by Dennis, a complimentary copy. I forgot what I had given him! I just found the name and need to go look. I hate to crack the cover! But
there she is, page 389, clinging to my finger, unposed.
Anyway, that's my little surprise. I will to treasure this. I didn't know he'd finished it or if he really did use my photo.
And people wonder why I'm out there in the heat, in muck or in fields, on the water and always with a camera? You just NEVER know what you can find.

And that's what I'm afraid of in Bay County, FL. Our Supervisor of Elections does a good job, but I fear those computerized voting machines. They are not fail-safe.
We all know the results can easily be hacked, even from a remote location across the globe, so why can't we have a record of our vote, given to us in our hand, to dispute it if questions of verification arise?
