I have just heard that you are considering signing a bill to prohibit unleaded gasoline and instead, make it mandatory to purchase 15% ethanol mix for Florida fuel usage.
I cannot believe you would sign such a burdensome bill and saddle seniors with older cars (I am 70, and my van is a 1996 model) who may, like me, are unable to purchase any vehicle at any price. This is very discriminatory to the taxpayers. What happened to choice?
You need to educate yourself on the dangers of ethanol to the internal combustion engines. From lawnmowers and chainsaws to automobiles, it kills the engines.
Here's a copy of my email to Scott of this a.m. As soon as I heard about it - I sat down and sent it, and if you are concerned, you should, too.
To make a gallon of ethanol, it takes 7,000 gallons of precious water. Corn/grain based ethanol removes food from growing livestock to feed our country.
What is the matter with you?
I will not vote for you if you do that; neither will a majority of Bay County. You are losing your base here, and the Republicans are a questionable lot when it comes to smart, common sense decisions on legislation.
Always remember you serve at our pleasure. Do the right thing and do NOT
force this upon Floridians. I am copying this and sending it on through blogs, tweets and emails.
It is outrageous that you would even consider this legislation. It belongs in your trash can. It is just another indication of how easily you are bent by lobbyists.

WE HAVE A LITTLE PROBLEM WITH GOV. RICK SCOTT, FLORIDA
http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Florida-Governor-Rick-Scotts-State-Employee-Drug-Testing-Program-Went-Too-Far-Appeals-Court-209438021.html
If I am reading this right, you are relentless in urine testing for employees. I hope that you are also relentlessly pursuing the drug testing of EVERYONE IN STATE GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING YOURSELF.
I have come to the conclusion that you have forgotten that you and every state employee including elected officials and appointees, work for all Floridians, and as such (employees), you must by law be tested as well, at random.
This is government intrusion into all our lives; it is also removing the Fourth and First amendment rights for us all. You are going too far with your surveillance of citizens and not enforcing laws already on the books.
So we will remember this in the midterm elections and in the state elections.
I have already removed myself from the Republican Party because of your poor decisions, and Marco Rubio's, and the poor representation by the Gaetz boys and Jimmy Patronis.
So I am off to my blog to make this available to the public.
Thank you for your time.
Just remember, You work for US. You are nothing but public servants.

GOOD NEWS FOR LIBERTARIANS AND INDEPENDENTS AND DISGUSTED REPS AND DEMS IN FLORIDA
This election is to be
held by a vote of delegates present to the Libertarian State Convention, 24-26
May 2013, in Naples Florida.
Pete Blome Announces
Candidacy for LPF At-Large One
Over the last two years the
Libertarian Party of Florida has changed for the better. As a Party we stand on the cusp of
becoming the choice for the voters of Florida and supplying the vision and
competition so lacking in our political process.
Certainly, this transformation was
not the effort of any one person.
It took the combined efforts
of dozens of dedicated, hard-working, self-sacrificing Libertarians throughout
the state who know in their hearts that individual rights, free markets, and
limited government are what lead to liberty, happiness, and prosperity. They are people who know government is a
dangerous servant and a fearful master.
They made the Libertarian Party of Florida the team to speak truth to
power, and show our fellow citizens that there is a better choice out
there.
It’s been my privilege to be a part
of this team, and I would like to continue to be so. I bring with me the traits that have
served me well in the past, my dedication, reliability and vision.
I am dedicated to making Florida the
first state with an effective Libertarian opposition to the Republican and
Democrat Parties. We are making
gains in the Panhandle, where I live, and since 2010 it is, arguably, the most
Libertarian voting part of the state.
Libertarians are often copied, badly, by the major parties in election
campaigns. However, once elected,
both major parties forget their libertarian promises and continue pursuing the
same wasteful policies using the force of government as the means. As a result we have fewer freedoms, a
centrally controlled economy, and a government that claims powers that span a
grey toned spectrum from “free speech zones” to federally mandated health
care. All the while, we sink
hopelessly into debt. I’ve been at
the forefront of bringing this to the attention of the electorate for a long
time now.
Next, I am careful about making
promises, but when I do, I see them through to the best of my
abilities.
Finally, I know the LPF will take
its place as a professionally run and organized political party that can
reliably put people and money together to elect candidates to office. We have already made great strides
at doing these tasks, but the LPF needs to improve. One area is fundraising. Without money we cannot effectively
speak to the millions of our fellow citizens who constantly hear the major party
message, nor can we support candidates.
Once we have the means, we need to professionalize as many functions of
the LPF as possible by hiring companies and staff to do the massive
administrative tasks inherent in talking with millions of people at a
distance. This would build trust in
our Party, and free our leadership to pursue more human tasks that help us
grow. We need to augment our
influence in the state by encouraging Libertarians to participate in business
and civic groups to show them that Libertarians are genuine and plausible
leaders who will be there tomorrow. We need to shatter the stereotype that
libertarians are ivory tower philosophers or cranks. Lastly, we need to improve our message
by targeting people and issues where force and fraud work against liberty and
prosperity; by restoring the power of the individual that was taken by big
government. This vision will take
work, but I see myself, and the LPF, up to the task.
Libertarians can, and should, be at
the forefront of Florida governance.
Give me the opportunity to continue working at the State level to help
make it happen. Vote for me for LPF
At-Large One Representative.
Thank you

CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT BECAUSE OF THE WAR ON DRUGS IN FLORIDA - RICK SCOTT AND PAM BONDI - THIS IS WRONG!

The war on drugs never worked. You are "following orders". This didn't need to be done.
Reverse this AT ONCE.
For so many reasons this is horribly wrong of you. For so many more reasons, you must legalize marijuana for medical and recreational reasons.

SOS! THE MOST DISGUSTING POST OF THE DAY: DEBBIE WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ SAYS HER AIDES CAN'T AFFORD GOOD MEALS!
http://conservativebyte.com/2013/03/wasserman-schultz-my-aides-cant-afford-good-meals/
HEARD THIS early in the a.m. from Derrell Day on our local talk radio station. He suggested we send her food offerings to feed her and her staff - maybe a box of macaroni and cheese. I called in and said ramen would be cheaper. Maybe you, in all your goodness and appreciation for all the vile things she has said and done will find it in your heart to donate a single Little Debbie cake or a saltine or two so she and her staff can eat.
This is a disgrace.
This is one idiot bitch to even concoct this story.
It's your burden to feed this pig at the trough and her staff.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA - THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
http://medicalmarijuanamallusa.com/InformationPages/SymptomsandBenefits.html
One of our Florida Republican Representatives, Jimmy Patronis, came out and had the nerve to say in a News Herald article last week, that he is so opposed to legalizing marijuana of any kind, if "we" don't like it we can leave (Florida). An elected official is nothing more than a public servant. The arrogance of that statement - the heartlessness of it, is so offensive. It is typical of those empowered by us - the trick is to find new people and maybe another party to represent us. Patronis is a Republican. But if (God forbid), his parents, his wife, his youngsters were stricken with an illness that marijuana helped heal or alleviate the symptoms, you know he'd get some - beg, borrow or steal. So let's not be a hypocrite, Jimmy.
Seventy per cent or more Floridians want marijuana legalized. Personally, I think alcohol and cigarettes are far more dangerous.
I truly believe marijuana is a healthcare miracle.
The link is an important one.

FLORIDA LIBERTARIAN CONVENTION: HERE'S WHAT PETE BLOME FROM THE PANHANDLE HAS TO SAY
IT'S TIME TO CHANGE YOUR THINKING! THE REPUBLICANS AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE MELDING INTO ONE PARTY! BE VERY CAREFUL TO VOTE FOR THE CONSTITUTION!
Dear Fellow Libertarian,
The Libertarian Party of Florida State Convention will be held
from the 24th through the 26th of May this year at the Hilton Hotel in Naples,
Florida hosted by the Collier County LP.
http://www.collierlp.com/convention.html If you
would like to be a delegate, be sure to be registered as a Libertarian with your
local County Supervisor of Elections no later than the 23 March, and send me a
message. I will get you set up.
At that convention I will propose the following as an addition
to the LPF Platform, subject to the vote of the assembled
delegates.
-
PRIVACY
“Just as it is true that the only economic situation
consistent with individual rights is the free market, so is it also true that
life, liberty and happiness cannot prosper under continuous state surveillance.
The LPF opposes the use by the state of people or technology to monitor, account
for, and keep Floridians under surveillance, especially where there is no
evidence of criminal behavior, and thereby restrict the normal interaction of
peoples. The LPF also opposes passive, yet compulsory, surveillance legislation,
such as laws that require reporting legal activities without evidence of
criminal acts. The first, second, fourth, fifth, ninth, tenth and fourteenth
amendments to the Constitution are all threatened by unfettered state
surveillance. The LPF further supports an amendment to the Constitution of the
United States to protect the right of privacy of all citizens, to affirmatively
defend individuals from state intrusion, to limit state intervention in private
lives, and allow the free exercise of liberty away from the overbearing powers
of government."
Our founding fathers established the Bill of Rights because they knew
that if certain rights were not codified, the march of time and the nature of
government would lead to certain natural rights being legislated out of
existence. Privacy is a well know implied, but not codified, right in the
Constitution, and it has come under unrelenting assault from both our
legislatures and the ability of technology to see things that could never be
seen before. Privacy was an issue for the Founding Fathers as it is for us, but
it is certain they could not conceive of a situation where all the
populace could be kept under surveillance all the time. Technology and an undisciplined view of the
Constitution has brought us to the point we are now, and it is past time to set
things right for individual liberty.

I RECEIVED THIS LETTER FROM MY CONGRESSMAN VIA EMAIL. THIS WAS BECAUSE OF THE UN OBSERVERS AT OUR POLLING PLACES. IT'S A LITTLE LATE. MY REPLY FOLLOWS THE TEXT:
February
14, 2013
Thank you for contacting our office regarding election observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). I value your input on this important issue and appreciate the opportunity to respond. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is an international organization – consisting of 57 countries, including the United States – that seeks to facilitate solutions for a wide range of security-related concerns. As you may know, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights recently sent election analysts to observe an array of Election Day activities during the 2012 elections in the United States. The OSCE has previously observed five sets of elections in the United States since 2002, including the 2010 mid-term Congressional elections and the 2008 general elections. As a member state of the OSCE, the United States becomes open to observers from the organization to ensure the U.S. complies with their commitment of promoting free and democratic elections. It is important to recognize that OSCE observation abilities are limited to the discretion of the individual state. In order for a free society to function, there must be free and fair elections. As a leader in promoting democracy here and abroad, I believe America is more than capable of ensuring our elections meet this criteria. Rest Assured, I will not support the United States ceding any authority granted under our Constitution when it comes to establishing election procedures. Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. I am humbled and honored you have afforded me the opportunity to represent you in the United States House of Representatives. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about issues of importance to you. Feel free to visit my Congressional website at http://southerland.house.gov or contact our office with any future concerns. |
|
Sincerely,
Steve Southerland, II United States Representative Don't ever try to dazzle me with bullshit. Doesn't work. And apparently, observing didn't help prevent voter fraud, either. |
