Dear Fellow Libertarian,

The Libertarian Party of Florida State Convention will be held from the 24th through the 26th of May this year at the Hilton Hotel in Naples, Florida hosted by the Collier County LP.

At that convention I will propose the following as an addition to the LPF Platform, subject to the vote of the assembled delegates.

- PRIVACY

“Just as it is true that the only economic situation consistent with individual rights is the free market, so is it also true that life, liberty and happiness cannot prosper under continuous state surveillance. The LPF opposes the use by the state of people or technology to monitor, account for, and keep Floridians under surveillance, especially where there is no evidence of criminal behavior, and thereby restrict the normal interaction of peoples. The LPF also opposes passive, yet compulsory, surveillance legislation, such as laws that require reporting legal activities without evidence of criminal acts. The first, second, fourth, fifth, ninth, tenth and fourteenth amendments to the Constitution are all threatened by unfettered state surveillance. The LPF further supports an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to protect the right of privacy of all citizens, to affirmatively defend individuals from state intrusion, to limit state intervention in private lives, and allow the free exercise of liberty away from the overbearing powers of government."

Our founding fathers established the Bill of Rights because they knew that if certain rights were not codified, the march of time and the nature of government would lead to certain natural rights being legislated out of existence. Privacy is a well know implied, but not codified, right in the Constitution, and it has come under unrelenting assault from both our legislatures and the ability of technology to see things that could never be seen before. Privacy was an issue for the Founding Fathers as it is for us, but it is certain they could not conceive of a situation where all the populace could be kept under surveillance all the time. Technology and an undisciplined view of the Constitution has brought us to the point we are now, and it is past time to set things right for individual liberty.

None of the Yea voters have any regard for anyone, including those who stupidly went with the flow and believed in them enough to vote for them.  They are all petty wannabe tyrants. 

I made the mistake of voting for Southerland twice because I didn't listen to my heart and listened instead to the cacophony of white noise around me.  I won't make that mistake again.

So I am proposing to Bay County and Panama City, to form a group to meet in a neutral place to prepare presentations on our grievances and to demand to be heard as a group when our elected officials are in town, in our district.  No more nice guys and gals.  We have to hold them accountable for their actions.

I for one, will be leaving the Republican Party. It serves no purpose.  It has destroyed itself.  I would never be a Democrat - ever.  I am probably going to become an Independent, though my heart is now thoroughly Libertarian.

But no matter who we throw at the wall who sticks, they must know who is pulling their strings.  AND THAT'S US!

On my agenda is to form a really vibrant Libertarian Party in Bay County, specifically in Panama City.

It's time we make this party viable and energetic.  We need people eligible to vote in the next election, young singles, families, and those with gray hair who aren't afraid to organize, to vent, to pass out literature,  to register voters, converse on talk shows and expose the wrongs of the Republicrats, and promote the Libertarian Party.  You with me?  All you need is to be pro-Constitution, and be a lover of freedom and liberty.  Think about this...do your school children know what freedom and liberty are?  Have they ever felt it when they are besieged with rules like helmets and kneepads to ride their bicycles?  I hate that!  So what if they fall.  They'll get up with bloody knees and remember what they did wrong...like in life.  Like with bullies.
My son was in grade school and terrified of a wiry little monster who made his paper route and class time horrific.  Until my son slugged him.  The parents met and they never had a problem again.  That's how it is with bullies.  That's how it is with elected officials too.  We're going to give you a "black eye" when you least expect it (at election time) if you don't respect our power. 

Let's do it.  We aren't effective alone as parties of one.  But if we got 20 people in a room each with a problem to be solved and a demand for accountability from an elected official, we would come away very proud.

Do I bite the bullet and vote for Romney - certainly never for the man with the hate-filled eyes (Obama),  or do I follow my heart and vote for Sen. Gary Johnson?

Maybe it's wakeup time - two weeks - only 14 days - to make a decision.

Grass-roots coalition to hold rally urging sheriffs to stop TSA abuses

DAYTONA BEACH - In what may be the first movement of its kind in the nation, a coalition of grass-roots liberty groups is holding a rally on Sunday outside the Florida Sheriffs Association convention in Daytona Beach. Their goal is to encourage sheriffs to enforce the Constitution and stop the Transportation Security Administration from warrantless and random searches at airport checkpoints.

According to organizers, the objective of the rally is not to protest, but rather to encourage sheriffs to uphold the Fourth Amendment, as well as Florida statutes on molestation, as they apply to TSA employees. The rally will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011, outside of the Hilton Oceanfront Resort, 100 N Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach, from 4-7 pm. The assembly is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring signs urging sheriffs to confront the TSA and protect Floridians' rights.

The rally is being organized and promoted by the Libertarian Party of Florida, the Campaign for Liberty, the Florida Tenth Amendment Center, Oath Keepers, the Constitution Party of Florida, Wake Up 1776, the Save America Foundation, We Are Change, Young Americans for Liberty, the Florida Republican Liberty Caucus, and several tea party and 912 organizations.

In a July 4th letter to all 67 of Florida's sheriffs, Florida Libertarian Party Chairman Adrian Wyllie wrote, "We turn to you as our last line of defense against a federal government that is usurping authority and ignoring the rule of law. If you have TSA agents within your county that are violating the law, then you must act."

The letter called on sheriffs to arrest TSA employees who violate the law.

Retired Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack, a renowned author and Constitutionalist, will be speaking at the rally. "The sheriff who keeps his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, does not allow anyone to violate or abuse his constituents," said Mack about the rally. "Do you know what happens when your sheriff stands for what's right? Freedom!"

Organizers cite the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees all Americans the right to be secure in their persons, papers, and effects against warrantless and unreasonable searches by government. They point out that sheriffs are sworn to uphold and protect the Constitution, and that the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized sheriffs as the highest Constitutional authority within their jurisdiction. "We are simply asking the sheriffs to honor their oath and do their job" said Alex Snitker, syndicated radio talk host and 2010 U.S. Senate candidate.

The LPF has received very little response to their request to the sheriffs. "Even though they have the U.S. Constitution, the Florida Constitution, and multiple Florida statutes on their side, sheriffs seem hesitant to enforce the law," said Wyllie. He points out that their reluctance seems to be based in fear of confronting the federal government, despite their sworn duty and uphold the Constitution.

Andrew Nappi, coordinator of the Florida Tenth Amendment Center, will be one of the many speakers at the rally. "The TSA, which has become synonymous with 'Temporary Sexual Assault,' should be held accountable to the rule of law," said Nappi. "We commend the LPF for being the only political party in Florida to stand up for our civil liberties, and we are proud to stand with them."

Rally organizers contend that the TSA imaging systems, commonly known as "naked body scanners," are a violation of the Fourth Amendment, and may violate child pornography laws when used on children. They also point out that these scanners, which emit radiation, may be a health hazard, citing data that indicates a correlation between the scanners an a rapid increase in cancer rates among TSA employees. The Department of Homeland Security has denied that the scanners pose a health hazard to employees or travelers, and has refused to comply with OSHA and other regulatory standards regarding x-ray machines and radiation-emitting devices.

Organizers also object to the enhanced pat-downs performed by TSA agents on travelers who refuse to be scanned. "Not only do the enhanced pat-downs violated the Bill of Rights and Article One, Section 12 of the the Florida Constitution, they are clearly in violation of statues regarding lewd and lascivious behavior, and in some cases even felony sexual battery," said Wyllie. "The sheriffs apparently believe that if the federal government does it, then it must be lawful. That's a very dangerous fallacy."

I very much doubt Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen will attend ours in Ft. Walton tonight.
