A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama , is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.

Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee , has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama’s “Global Poverty Act” (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

The bill, which is item number four on the committee’s business meeting agenda, passed the House by a voice vote last year because most members didn’t realize what was in it. Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require. According to the website of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee , no hearings have been held on the Obama bill in that body.

A release from the Obama Senate office about the bill declares, “In 2000, the U.S. joined more than 180 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit and vowed to reduce global poverty by 2015. We are halfway towards this deadline, and it is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day.”

The legislation itself requires the President “to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”

The bill defines the term “Millennium Development Goals” as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, General Assembly Resolution 55/2 (2000).

The U.N. says that “The commitment to provide 0.7% of gross national product (GNP) as official development assistance was first made 35 years ago in a General Assembly resolution, but it has been reaffirmed repeatedly over the years, including at the 2002 global Financing for Development conference in Monterrey, Mexico. However, in 2004, total aid from the industrialized countries totaled just $78.6 billion—or about 0.25% of their collective GNP.”

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Millennium Declaration also affirms the U.N. as “the indispensable common house of the entire human family, through which we will seek to realize our universal aspirations for peace, cooperation and development.”

Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the U.N.’s “Millennium Project,” says that the U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.’s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the “Millennium Development Goals,” this amounts to $845 billion. And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.

Obama’s bill has only six co-sponsors. They are Senators Maria Cantwell, Dianne Feinstein, Richard Lugar, Richard Durbin, Chuck Hagel and Robert Menendez. But it appears that Biden and Obama see passage of this bill as a way to highlight Democratic Party priorities in the Senate.

The House version (H.R. 1302), sponsored by Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), had only 84 co-sponsors before it was suddenly brought up on the House floor last September 25 and was passed by voice vote. House Republicans were caught off-guard, unaware that the pro-U.N. measure committed the U.S. to spending hundreds of billions of dollars.

It appears the Senate version is being pushed not only by Biden and Obama, a member of the committee, but Lugar, the ranking Republican member. Lugar has worked with Obama in the past to promote more foreign aid for Russia, supposedly to stem nuclear proliferation, and has become Obama’s mentor. Like Biden, Lugar is a globalist. They have both promoted passage of the U.N.’s Law of the Sea Treaty, for example.

The so-called “Lugar-Obama initiative” was modeled after the Nunn-Lugar program, also known as the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) program, which was designed to eliminate weapons of mass destruction in the former Soviet Union. But one defense analyst, Rich Kelly, noted evidence that “CTR funds have eased the Russian military’s budgetary woes, freeing resources for such initiatives as the war in Chechnya and defense modernization.” He recommended that Congress “eliminate CTR funding so that it does not finance additional, perhaps more threatening, programs in the former Soviet Union.” However, over $6 billion has already been spent on the program.

Another program modeled on Nunn-Lugar, the Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention (IPP), was recently exposed as having funded nuclear projects in Iran through Russia.

More foreign aid through passage of the Global Poverty Act was identified as one of the strategic goals of InterAction, the alliance of U.S-based international non-governmental organizations that lobbies for more foreign aid. The group is heavily financed by the U.S. Government, having received $1.4 million from taxpayers in fiscal year 2005 and $1.7 million in 2006. However, InterAction recently issued a report accusing the United States of “falling short on its commitment to rid the world of dire poverty by 2015 under the U.N. Millennium Development Goals…”

It’s not clear what President Bush would do if the bill passes the Senate. The bill itself quotes Bush as declaring that “We fight against poverty because opportunity is a fundamental right to human dignity.” Bush’s former top aide, Michael J. Gerson, writes in his new book, Heroic Conservatism, that Bush should be remembered as the President who “sponsored the largest percentage increases in foreign assistance since the Marshall Plan…”

Even these increases, however, will not be enough to satisfy the requirements of the Obama bill. A global tax will clearly be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money.

A letter from Mother Nature to the children of the world - to be read in a Glynda the Good Witch-type voice.

Dear Children -

Don't forget that we breathe and exchange other gases besides oxygen and carbon dioxide - and that's why, boys and girls, we have eugenics. Eugenics will shorten our lives, kill us outright, throw out the book that says green things photosynthesize carbon dioxide and the product of this is oxygen - that allows us to breathe. The rain forests found all over the world, boys and girls, which have been depleted by the very corporations run by the very people who would like you to believe that "we" are the bad guys and should be punished by cap and trade for using up all that oxygen, were once called the lungs of the earth, embracing and enveloping the entire globe with lovely oxygen and water vapor so that species could live and breathe and work and play and the rain and snow would fall and rivers run, full of fish - but the corporations cut the forests down. And the green that they treasured was money. Not trees or vines or beautiful fruits and flowers or whole forests where animals wandered and sleek fish swam the streams just as it was from the beginning of time. And that is called "greed".

Ice caps at the poles will expand and contract as they have through millenia. So are the cycles of nature which man in his arrogance cannot control. But if you let them, man can control your thoughts and your panic even though your minds aren't twisted like theirs. And I promise you will not drown in your beds as you dream your little boy and girl dreams. For what they make you fear is as endless as time. And those are the rhythms of nature; the cycles of change that are far stronger than men and so gradual that you and your grandchildren, and so on will never really notice.

They - the corporations run by those who wantonly destroyed the rainforests, belong to people like Al Gore and his family who mines and pollutes, the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers; people who wear crowns and call themselves "royals" and think they are so special, that one queen I have heard, has a servant to attend to her personal hygiene after she potties. My, my. What can I say? We are after all, no different from each other. And she is no different than your granny, but probably a lot more eccentric in some ways. I believe it is her husband who says he'd like to come back from the dead and be a deadly virus to wipe out humans. Oh, dear me. What an wicked thing to say. And we can add business people called entrepreneurs who make huge profits from trees and building and energy themselves; genetic engineering to alter life itself, and even people involved in philanthropy - the idea of helping people - by sterilization - still eugenics. All of the fine labels mean nothing. They are liars.

Oh children - the list goes on and on.

So when you go home tonight, please discuss this at dinner with your family. The earth is not warming. It is all a hoax created by evil people - the globalists - so your family will bear terrible taxation, and even be limited to going to see your grandma and grandpa in another state unless they make air travel reservations (or maybe have to get permission from a transportation czar) as much as two years in advance. You may even be called "slaves" when you grow up. You are already called "useless eaters". But Mother Nature doesn't want you to worry. Just be prepared and find that thing inside that feels strong, which is courage. Because Mother Nature knows that it exists in you, and it is a fine, fair thing.

Mother Nature knows the universe and the seasons, and the creatures that slither, creep, crawl, fly, stride and walk upright - from the tiniest cells to the biggest elephant. And Mother Nature knows all about nature's cycles and sunspots and their cycles, too and rain on your faces and snowflakes that melt on your nose and that you will not fry and die. And she know that if you listen to the crap (oh, dear children - did I say that? I apologize) then...the lies these people are feeding you, will make you fry and die or maybe not fry, but bake in an oven until you get crispy. Probably in a FEMA camp, right next door to you, like in Hardin, MT.

Bay County protest against Rep. Allen Boyd's vote on climate bill

They arrived in a trickle, most with gray hair, their signs condemning Rep. Allen Boyd (D), who was giving a talk on successfully growing a small business at Gulf Coast Community College. An older gentleman carried a bullhorn, occasionally streaming a diatribe against the the Clean Air Bill (or Cap and Trade), into the traffic along Highway 98. The remark was made that it was a shame that the demonstrators were older adults, and were they the only ones who remembered what it was like to feel free.

And then they came - businessmen and women on their lunch breaks, mothers with young children, fathers with their teenagers, retirees, veterans, students. Most were carrying signs, waving flags. They poured themselves along curb, encouraging motorists to honk their horns, waving signs; thumbs up and fists held high. An effigy appeared of Boyd hanging from a fishing rod, complete with tar and feathers. The flag of the colonies was paraded, flying among "Don't Tread on Me" flags and our contemporary flag. The enthusiasm was contagious.

And still they came. The elderly woman in the walker who barely made it across the lawn, the old gentleman on the bicycle flying two flags on his basket, attendees who joined the group who had taken the seminar.

Burnie Thompson, our affable WYOO talk show host who wakes us daily with "The Morning Show", along with Derrell Day of the Bay Patriots, put the call out yesterday.
Boyd would be speaking at Gulf Coast Community College, and we needed to take a stand against his vote on the Cap and Trade bill that passed in the House of Representatives this week, his questionable ethics, and his Constitutional oath-breaking. Would we come? Would we show our true patriotic colors?

That we did and more.

The crowd began to migrate toward the student union hall around 1 p.m. so that Boyd could not avoid seeing them. He would know that Bay Countians are fed up with his form of representation.
The man next to me smiles and says, "It's easy to feel good when you're right."

That seemed to say it all.

And then we watched the news. Though there were over 200 people, the television news media reported very low numbers. Boyd was interviewed by a reporter who asked if he had read the bill. He had, IN FACT, NOT READ THE BILL. He had the audacity to tell her that his staff read parts of it and reported back to him but they had not yet completed it.

Allen Boyd is on an agricultural committee. He is also a farmer here in northwest Florida and benefits greatly from policies he helps make. Subsidies subsidize him!

He has been a Representative for many years. It’s time for him to go. We must unelect him. His ethics are deplorable. And to think he can add his name to a bill that will give over our lives to big government, and a socialist/communist one at that, is unforgivable. This is a man who wants an estate tax so badly, he can taste it.

It’s time to get behind a new candidate (I met one yesterday) who is running for Boyd’s seat. Until I get permission from him, I’ll stay quiet.

DOWN WITH ALLEN BOYD! HE’S A FAT CAT GETTING FATTER OFF OUR BACKS EVERY SECOND HE’S EMPLOYED BY US. TIME TO GO TO WORK AND REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE.

Boyd could not avoid the protestors and smiled sheepishly when he exited a rear door. But when he got into his vehicle, he turned to someone. He was laughing. Laughing at the crowd. They didn't matter to him.

Not many of the Congress care about us. We need to remember that as they go about their own, personal empire building, without remembering their oaths of office to us and God.
