An uncle, probably Uncle Georgie or Uncle John gave my father a copy of "The Old Man and the Sea" when I was young, maybe 8 or 10. He read it and I read it. And then I read it again.
I think somewhere I still have it on a groaning bookshelf somewhere here. Cuba is part of my heritage, and my whole family loved to fish. As far as I know, I was the only one to live in the Florida Keys, and I did have one of his Hemingway cats for a while.
It's still one of my favorite books.
I just finished "Papa Heminway" during the winter. A good read.
I think you will enjoy this article and perhaps the whole site.
