If you're a soldier, you will get paid. This is fearmongering, what Obama does best. Same goes for scaring Social Security/Medicare recipients.
The fact that a general would "just follow orders" and obey Obama, and not know better in this particular case - well - why not just walk out. Soldiers are endangered species - they have given their oath to the country, but not the President. Better read the founding documents, people.
And don't let the bogey man scare you.
