Both
parties promised you a Socialist IRS, a Marxist re-distribution of the
wealth and a centralized police state . . . They have kept their
promises to you.
By Gary;
The Police State
- From day one the Income Tax was created to be used as a political
class warfare weapon against the "evil" rich (the job creators). The
tax would steal their money and re-distribute that wealth to buy the
votes of those not paying the tax.
The ever growing tax code
was and is used to reward or punish the friends and enemies of both the
Democrats and the Republicans. Everyone from Republican farmers to
Greenie Solyndra Democrats gets to stick their snouts deep in the trough
of the re-distributed wealth of America.
The political hacks have thug-like extorted the business class by saying, "Give us campaign money and we won't fuck you as hard at tax time."
So
it should come as no surprise that IRS agents are morphing into the
very Fascist Brown Shirt enforcers of the All-Powerful
Marxist State that they were meant to be.
Political Attacks - This oppressive IRS Marxist-Fascist hybrid has exploded in the public eye this week.
From Obamacare down to the smallest local level the IRS State wants to control your every move.
One
small story caught my attention. A Tennessee lawyer asked the IRS for
tax-exempt status for a mentoring group that trained high school and
college students about conservative political philosophy, the agency
responded with a list of 95 questions in 31 parts, including an ultimatum for a list of everyone the group had trained, or planned to train.
'Provide
details regarding all training you have provided or will provide,' the
IRS demanded. 'Indicate who has received or will receive the training
and submit copies of the training material,' reports the UK Daily Mail.
That
question was part of the tax collection agency's February 14, 2012
letter to Kevin Kookogey, founder of the group Linchpins of Liberty. He
had submitted his application 13 months earlier.
'Can you imagine my responsibility to parents if I disclosed the names of their children to the IRS?' he asked MailOnline.
It's 'an impossible question to answer fully and truthfully,' he said.
There
is a solution. Abolish the income tax. But the politicians will never
do that because they would lose their power to control your life.
"Soak the Rich." Republican William Howard Taft and a GOP Congress brought Marxism, the re-distribution of the wealth and class warfare to the U.S. by passing the income tax amendment to the Constitution.
In
1909 Republican President William Howard Taft urged a Congress with
heavy Republican majorities to pass the income tax 17th Amendment and
make the Marxist re-distribution of wealth the law of the land.
In an act of naked Marxism
and class warfare the GOP promised to "tax the rich" and re-distribute
that wealth to others in society with "needs." Never mind the nation
had been doing just fine since 1776 without an income tax.
The
Republican political hacks said not to worry. Only the very, very top
earners would have to pay. Another lie to the simple minded who then
sold their votes in return for the chance to legally steal other
people's money.
To
this day we are still waiting for the "small government" GOP to pass a
flat income tax. It will never happen because the Republican Party are
the ones who made the progressive, soak the rich income tax the law of
the land in the first place.
A delegate of Germany's anti-euro party "Alternative fuer Deutschland" (Alternative for Germany) waves a German flag during the first party congress in Berlin.
Merkel's "Conservative" Christian Democrats are in trouble with real Conservatives
Voters are frustrated when they vote for Conservatives on election day only to end up with "moderate" big spending Socialists.
With
less than five months to go before parliamentary elections in Germany, a
new political party that is calling for an end to the European currency
union is gaining strength.
The party, Alternative for Germany,
held its first formal party congress on Sunday at a Berlin hotel. It
has emerged as a wild card ahead of the September elections and poses a
potential threat to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s re-election prospects.
Chancellor Angela Merkel just another big spending Socialist
The
new party is driven by a collection of elites, not a groundswell from
the streets, starting with Bernd Lucke, 50, a Hamburg economics
professor.
Lucke, along with many of the new party’s
supporters, previously belonged to Merkel’s conservative Christian
Democratic Union before the Greek bailouts forced him to reconsider reports the New York Times.
“We
want to put an end to the flagrant breach of democratic, legal and
economic principles that we have seen in the past three years, because
Chancellor Merkel’s government said there is no alternative,” Lucke told
more than 1,500 supporters on Sunday. “Now it is here, the Alternative
for Germany.”
Lucke says the euro is dividing Europe rather
than uniting it, as the single currency was meant to do. He has the
support of a group of fellow academics who filed a case before Germany’s
Federal Constitutional Court against the bailouts.
'Euro dead, stop the surgery' - Alternative for Germany Party Anti-euro
sentiment is going mainstream in Germany - with the launch of a new
party dedicated to pulling the plug on the struggling single currency.
The group - called 'Alternative for Germany' - says it has already
received thousands of membership requests.
Alternative for Germany Party Right-of-center voters are tired of phony big spending "Conservatives" like Merkel and Britain's David Cameron.
For months, the Conservative CDU and the Free Democrat Party have sought to ignore the Alternative for Germany in the hopes that it would simply disappear as so many anti-euro movements have in the past. Instead, though, the party has quickly grown. Earlier this month, it surpassed the 10,000 member mark -- just seven weeks after its official founding -- and it has attracted widespread interest among the German electorate.
More
worrisome, significant elements within Merkel's CDU have grown
uncomfortable with massive bailouts of heavily indebted euro-zone member
states, with several conservative lawmakers either abstaining or voting
no on aid packages in German parliament last year. While no
parliamentarians have yet abandoned the CDU, the Alternative for Germany
has proven adept at attracting lower-ranking CDU and FDP members. Just
last week, a state lawmaker with the FDP in Hesse named Jochen Paulus
switched parties reports Der Spiegel International.
Many
see the AfD as a political home representing what German conservatives
used to stand for, before Merkel moved the CDU to the center in recent
years. And before the euro crisis forced Berlin to embark on the
expensive path of saving the common European currency. While most
Germans remain favorable toward the euro, a significant number are not
-- and many of them are political conservatives.
The fact that
AfD head Bernd Lucke is a professor of economics, with many of the other
founders working as economists, academics, lawyers or business leaders,
has also helped. For one, it lends the party the aura of respectability and expertise.
For another, it has helped the party to quickly navigate the various
bureaucratic obstacles for establishing a party and getting on the
ballot.
Furthermore, even as there have been some complaints
that the party has not done enough to clearly define its right-most
boundary. Party leadership has also been careful to keep a tight rein on
the kind of cranks who often plague new political movements, even if
that has meant strict limits on grassroots influence on strategic
decisions.

IRS – You’re surprised?
The blatant targeting by the IRS
of groups opposed to the President clearly deserves prison time for
those responsible. The odious revelations that the power to tax was
used to hinder free expression for partisan purposed rightfully shakes
public confidence that the government protects the Bill Of Rights. The
IRS can, and should, be abolished. But I must ask, why are so many
surprised when this kind of abuse happens?
I would not be exaggerating if I
said every day there are examples of even worse abuses by government.
It has routinely conducted warrantless searches of American citizens.
For a long time it was a crime to tell anyone that a warrantless search
had been committed. In Boston we saw the fourth Amendment thrown to the
winds for tens of thousands of citizens in the pursuit of two armed
men. The mortgage scandals, the LIBOR scandal, and the apparent
immunity of big bankers, such as John Corzine, who blatantly steal
investor funds but never come to trial, leaves the public with puzzled
looks on their faces about the rule of law. Worst of all, American
Presidents have executed American citizens overseas without trial, or
even without public evidence. And this is the short list!
To Libertarians none of this
comes as a surprise because we know big government is bad government.
It’s a pity so many of our fellow citizens cannot see the dingy forest
of government abuse until their particular tree is chopped down.
Pete Blome, Chair, Northwest Florida Libertarian Party
Bill Wohlsifer A tough choice between two of our finest LPF members. Pete Blome
was instrumental in helping re-organize a libertarian movement in the
Big Bend region. He is my closest geographical candidate. But at-large
means at large (and we attorneys tend to stick together). My vote, as of
May 1st (the day that the Brits traditionally defame capitalism) would
be for Jared Grifoni.
Yesterday at 7:38am · Like · 2
Dear Bill,
I’ll ask you to reconsider your vote, since I would best to represent the LPF At-Large.
It is clear to me that the purpose of a political party is to put
people and money together to elect candidates and that is what I’ve
wholeheartedly pursued.
At-Large implies an ability to be everywhere and do everything that
the LPF is involved in. Although I wish this were possible all the
time, I took a more realistic approach and concentrated my efforts on
establishing an organized and reliable libertarian presence in a
manageable area, roughly from Tallahassee to Pensacola (200 miles).
Nowhere in Florida is the potential for actually electing a libertarian
to office greater than in this Panhandle region, where relatively small
efforts in the past have garnered the best libertarian election
results. This is despite the fact there were no LPF Region 5 or Region 6
reps for most of my tenure, or any organized affiliates in the area.
What the north lacked, and what I supplied, was an organized and
reliable Libertarian presence to tell all liberty loving and free market
respecting citizens that what they want is not to be found in the
Republican or Tallahassee dominant Democrat Party, but with us. It is
working, and I seek to grow our success throughout Florida as far as my
strength and resources will let me.
As you well know, it is easy for others to forget that there is
another distant part of Florida called the Panhandle. I live 140 miles
to the west of Tallahassee, 475 miles from Tampa, and a full 745
miles from Miami. It is difficult for libertarians up here to
participate in the many events going on in the southern part of the
state (such as conventions), but that does not mean we are
inconsequential. Few people anywhere have the time and the means to
meaningfully travel the length and breadth of the state in the pursuit
of LPF goals, but I made a commitment to myself and other Libertarians
to participate in every convention, join in the LPF booth at the Florida
State Fair, dial in in every LPF phone conference I could, and in 2012
even walked the halls of the State House Capitol handing out LPF
position papers on issues to Panhandle legislators. State geography is a
fact we have to live with, and given the distances involved, an
at-large rep here clearly makes sense, and benefits local libertarians,
the LPF, and yourself.
Distance has another effect in that it is obvious you, and others, do
not know what I’ve been doing for the Party. I began the work of the
LPF in my own County, Okaloosa, even before I was elected At-Large Rep.
Okaloosa was the local center of support for the Snitker campaign in
2010, and led the State in voter turn-out for him. It is the same story
for the Johnson Campaign. I am constantly seeking out talented and
motivated people willing to work with the Northwest Florida Libertarian
Party (NFLP) and the LPF, and have been privileged to find so many.
Under my suggestion, the Northwest Florida Libertarian Party (formerly
the LPOC, Libertarian Party of Okaloosa County) changed its Constitution
to allow full participation by people in six neighboring counties that
do not have the dedicated libertarians or resources to create their own
affiliates. This does not mean the NFLP would not fully support any
libertarian who wanted to create an affiliate in another county. On the
contrary, our change brought together libertarians who would otherwise
have nothing, and provides a basis for others to build on and grow
around here. In order to seek out even more potential libertarians,
I’ve encouraged participation in civic and activist groups formerly the
exclusive domain of the major parties. As a result, the NFLP and the
LPF are a known, and respected, feature in the Fort Walton Beach Tea
Party, The Panhandle Patriots Tea Party, the Santa Rosa Tea Party, the
Escambia County Tea Party, the Walton County Tea Parties (North and
South), the Destin Chamber of Commerce (of which the NFLP is a member),
the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, the Pensacola Rotary, the Okaloosa
Island Condominium Association, and the Fort Walton Beach Kiwanis. We
even showed up at a local Democrat Party hootnanny. For the same
reasons, we are active in government. NFLP members have spoken before
their respective County Commissions. I am a regular speaker at
Okaloosa County Commission meetings, state representative ensembles, and
the rare public appearances by our Congressman Jeff Miller, where I am a
well-known voice of the opposition on a wide range of topics from
official corruption, to unaccountable government in the Mid Bay Bridge
Authority, to using public money to improve private property, to most
recently, opposition to the state law that allows County government to
pass secret tax breaks for particular businesses that the public, by
law, may never know. I am a familiar name to local politicians, to all
the Okaloosa candidates for Sheriff, as well as to State Representative
Matt Gaetz, his father Senate President Don Gaetz, and Senator Greg
Evers . Past Republican candidates for the State House, Mike Hill, and
for Congress, David Scholl, were classmates of mine long ago. I’ve
gotten to know who runs the major parties in the Panhandle, and by such
associations the libertarian message is getting out, in the opposition
camp, that there is an alternative to the major parties. Our message of
individual rights, free markets, and limited government is both real
and something the major parties constantly betray to the detriment of
their supporters. People around here have come to know libertarians
can be leaders, to like what they hear, and that we are here to stay.
My efforts on behalf of the LPF do not end there. Since 2009 I’ve
written at least 60 opinion pieces published by the media, been on TV
twice, and made numerous radio talk show calls advocating the
libertarian position. I’ve also written papers for the express benefit
of the LPF, such as the Convention Hotwashes, or surveys that recorded
what went well and what went poorly. I’ve made hundreds of phone
calls, and written thousands of emails, to registered libertarians
keeping them informed, asking them to get involved, and inviting them to
events. I’ve made my lists of contacts, media sources, and positions
papers freely available to anyone working with the Party, including you,
if you remember. I’ve given speeches at April 15th tax day
rallies, the Fort Walton Beach Tea party, and the Eglin Air Force base
Retirees Association, and the Escambia Teacher’s Union. For the sixth
year in a row libertarians will construct a parade float to be in the
Fort Walton Beach Billy Bowlegs Parade seen by thousands (kind of a
Mardi Gras event) advertising our candidates. Local libertarians have
operated a booth representing the LPF at the Northwest Florida Fair
(5000 attendees), the Santa Rosa County Fair (20,000) and the Pensacola
Interstate Fair (250,000+). The April meeting of the NFLP attracted
attention in that we had Ms. KrisAnne Hall as a guest speaker, who can
be added to the list of past speakers including Lawrence Vance (of von
Mises), Kerry Bowers (of the FairTax) and Karl Denninger (of the Market
Ticker), and Paul Rubin (Senior Economist under Reagan) . I also
maintain the NFLP website, libertarianpoc.org. As you can see, I seek
out and try to take advantage of opportunities as I come across them.
Of course, I must make special mention that I was also campaign
manager for Calen Fretts for Congress in the First District of Florida.
It is difficult to describe what it takes to run a Congressional
campaign without it sounding like hyperbole, but it is an effort which
takes hundreds of hours of continuous effort, and occupied my time for a
full year. There had not been a libertarian campaign in the Panhandle
since 1994. The who, what, where, whens and whys of a Federal campaign
had to be immediately learned and were successfully applied by me. A
libertarian had never been on the Congressional ballot in this District
before Calen Fretts, and it was only through persistence and planning
that Calen achieved that milestone using the petition method. This was
something even his Republican opponent could not boat of, though he
tried. Despite the lack of affiliates and a regional LPF rep, I found
and organized 33 working libertarian volunteers covering an area of 5200
square miles. In the end, although he lost the election, his campaign
spread lasting respect for Calen Fretts and Libertarians throughout the
District, and it has raised serious questions in the minds of many
Republican voters about the efficacy of reelecting the incumbent to
office year after year. The Libertarian Party in Florida is stronger
for the Fretts campaign. You might remember that I sent a complete
Hotwash of the Fretts campaign to all LPF Executive Committee members,
for their benefit, something I do not think any other campaign did.
It is clear these activities take money, lots of money, which has
heightened my concern over the lack of fundraising by the LPF. The NFLP
had $2000 in donations in 2012, and already we have $3000 for 2013, but
we are a relatively small organization. The Fretts Campaign gathered
about $15,000 in contributions ($1000 of which came from the LPF), but
the Libertarian State Party can only boast of a $25,000 war chest for
the whole state. Lack of funds is the single greatest limit on our
effectiveness as a political party, and we must fix that. To do so I
propose the LPF concentrate on three areas. The first is our message.
People want to be in control of their own lives and money, and we need
to better present how a libertarian in government would be in the
voter’s self- interest. We must show how this puts money in their
pockets without government handouts. Next is fundraising. I will
continue seeking out politically active people and donors in the
Panhandle and use better techniques to persuade them that it is in their
own interest to ditch the major parties. It is easy to spend money,
and it is frequently necessary to further our cause, but spending
without means to recoup what is spent is a plan for disaster. The last
part is candidates. Finding candidates is hard, but it is easier when
we present an attractive message, and have donors that can support a
candidate who wants to win. That is what people who run for office want
to do, win. Of these three goals the most important is fundraising and
that will be, for me, the major priority that the LPF should pursue in
the future.
Being a lawyer is a skill worth having in these litigious times we
live in, but I am not a stranger to applying the law to policy. My
undergraduate degree is in political science from the United States Air
Force Academy, where I also took classes in law, and my graduate degree
is in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. I was the
political advisor for the United States Forces in the Azores and had
daily contact with Portuguese, Department of Defense and Department of
State officials, including their lawyers, over matters related to
administering the only bilateral treaty for the stationing of United
States troops in Europe. This treaty covered everything from the
passage of military forces through Portugal to the hiring of local
workers. I performed the prep work for renegotiating this treaty. I’ve
represented the United States before Ambassadors, under Secretaries of
State, and foreign militaries including a guerilla army when I served
with the United Nations. I read the law, and still believe an average
citizen, like me, can navigate the legal rocks with prudence and
foresight. I was the first to point out and take action almost two
years ago over how the LPF was not in compliance with several parts of
the Florida statutes FS97-106. I learn more every day how the law is
stacked against third party participation in the political process, and
increasingly think we must fight this trend for the sake of the
Republic. Furthermore, northwest Florida has a concentration of
military interests unlike the rest of the state. The Cradle of Naval
Aviation is based in Pensacola, there is a Navy flight training center
in Escambia County, and the Eglin Range is the largest Air Force Base in
the U.S., spanning three counties. I’ve seen three wars, and my career
as a pilot and officer assigned to Special Operations, and experience
flying the Predator drone, lends me credibility in circles that the
Libertarian Party needs to court.
I hope I get your vote. Let’s work together to make a stronger Libertarian Party.
Regards
Pete
Is
British CNN host Piers Morgan finally admitting gun advocates have a
point when they say the Second Amendment is to protect citizens from
tyrannical government?
Morgan has made headlines for many months as he loudly trumpeted the cause of gun control, even to the detriment of his shows ratings.
Since
the Sandy Hook massacre last year – in which Adam Lanza shot and killed
20 students and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. –
Morgan has made advocating for gun-control legislation a frequent topic
of his program, clashing with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich or rocker and National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent, for example, and calling Gun Owners of America’s Larry Pratt “an unbelievably stupid man” for disagreeing with him.
As WND reported,
despite his avid criticism of guns, Morgan protects his own personal
property with signs warning that it is guarded by “Armed Response
Security Systems,” according to a recent investigation by self-described
“guerrilla journalist” James O’Keefe.
And on March 11, Morgan insisted that, “people need the nanny state occasionally.”
Now
– after learning of the Obama administration’s involvement in the IRS’
targeting of conservative groups and its secret seizure of Associated
Press phone records – the CNN host admitted to guest Penn Jillette that
perhaps gun advocates were right about creeping tyranny after all:
“I’ve
had some of the pro-gun lobbyists on here, saying to me, ‘Well, the
reason we need to be armed is because of tyranny from our own
government,’ and I’ve always laughed at them,” Morgan said. “I said,
‘Don’t be ridiculous! Your government won’t turn itself on you. …
“But, actually, this is vaguely tyrannical behavior by the American government.”
He
continued, “I think what the IRS did is bordering on tyrannical
behavior. I think what the Department of Justice has done to the AP is
bordering on tyrannical behavior.”
Jillette agreed with Morgan, stating, “There’s no doubt about that. Once you use the word ‘bordering,’ that’s true.
“I
also think that it shows you that how much we can trust the government
and just sit back– which is not very much at all. We have to be ever
vigilant.”
BUT NOW WE KNOW, YOU SNEAK. MAYBE YOU THOUGHT WE WERE STOOPID? YOU'D BETTER RESIGN BEFORE YOU'RE PUT IN JAIL. MICHELLE WON'T LIKE THAT. NO MORE VACATIONS. MAYBE THEY'LL LET YOU AT BEST, PRACTICE HOOPS FOR AN HOUR.
AND IF CONGRESS WAS SMART, YOU'D BE JOINING YOUR BRETHREN IN GITMO!
In case you may have questions about the fact that Obama is a
liar..read
this!!!
4 SIMPLE
QUESTIONS
1. Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So
how
can
the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is "African-American" when
the
term wasn't even used at that
time?
2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists
Obama's
birth as August 4,1961 & Lists Barack Hussein Obama as his
father.
No big deal, right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows
that
his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was
born
in "Kenya, East Africa". This wouldn't seem like anything of
concern,
except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two
whole
years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth.
How
could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not
yet
exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as
the
"British East Africa
Protectorate".
3. On the Birth Certificate released by the White House, the
listed
place
Of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital".
This cannot
be,
because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "Kaui
Keolani
Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home",
respectively.
The
name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological
Hospital
until 1978, when these two hospitals
merged.
How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth
certificate
dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until
1978?
Why hasn't this been discussed in the major media
?
4. Perhaps a clue comes from Obama’s book on his father. He
states
how proud he is of his father fighting in WW II. I’m not a math
genius,
so
I may need some help from you. Barack Obama’s “birth certificate”
says
his father was 25 years old in 1961 when he was born. That
should
have
put his father’s date of birth approximately 1936—if my math
holds
(Honest! I did that without a calculator!) Now we need a
non-revised
history book—one that hasn’t been altered to satisfy the author’s
goals—
to verify that WW II was basically between 1939 and 1945. Just
how
many 3 year olds fight in wars? Even in the latest stages of WW II
his
father wouldn’t have been more than 9. Does that mean that Mr.
Obama
is a liar, or simply chooses to alter the facts to satisfy
his imagination
or
political purposes (still qualifies as a
“liar”)?
The 1984 Police State
- It is interesting that the mainstream press has been nearly silent
about the massive growth of the bi-partisan 1984 surveillance state
until the Associated Press was targeted by Big Brother.
Now in a pure cover your ass move Comrade Attorney Gen. Eric Holder says he is not sure how many times such information has been seized by government investigators in the four years he's led Justice.
Pure 100% Bullshit.
During
an interview with NPR's Carrie Johnson on Tuesday, Holder was asked how
often his department has obtained such records of journalists' work reports NPR.
"I'm
not sure how many of those cases ... I have actually signed off on,"
Holder said. "I take them very seriously. I know that I have refused to
sign a few [and] pushed a few back for modifications."
On Morning Edition,
Carrie added that Holder declined to say whether there will be a review
of the Justice Department's policy on searches of reporters' records.
Tuesday,
NPR and other media organizations joined in a letter sent to Holder by
the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. In it, the news
outlets ask that the Justice Department:
— "Immediately return the telephone toll records obtained and destroy all copies, as requested by The Associated Press."
— "Announce whether it has served any other pending news media-related subpoenas that have not yet been disclosed."
At
a news conference Tuesday, Holder said the AP records were seized as
part of an investigation into leaks about a CIA operation in Yemen that
stopped an airliner bombing plot.
He will be asked about the
search of the reporters' phone logs at a House Judiciary Committee
hearing Wednesday afternoon. Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.,
says "Congress and the American people expect answers and
accountability."

Obama classmate audited 2 years ago now 'vindicated'
Critic charges IRS abuse part of plan to destroy opposition
Published: 19 hours ago
Art Moore entered the media
world as a public relations assistant for the Seattle Mariners and a
correspondent covering pro and college sports for Associated Press
Radio. He reported for a daily newspaper and served as senior news
writer for Christianity Today magazine before joining WND shortly after
9/11. He holds a master's degree in communications from Wheaton College
Graduate School.
As Attorney General Eric Holder orders an investigation of the
Internal Revenue Service after a top official admitted targeting
conservative groups with extra scrutiny, an outspoken critic of Obama
who claimed more than half a year ago that the administration was using
the IRS to punish him is feeling vindicated.
“I feel like a million bucks. I feel absolutely vindicated. I knew this was going on,” Wayne Allen Root told WND.
Root, the Libertarian Party vice-presidential candidate in 2008 who
has claimed Obama was strangely unknown to him and his fellow Columbia
University classmates, recounted his story to WND last October of becoming the target of unusual audits, beginning in January 2011, despite a “spotless” 30-year tax record.
He charged in October that the order to audit him came from Obama himself, and he is even more convinced now.
“I believe this is not rogue agents, who would be risking their pension and careers,” he said.
In October, Root said the order to audit him “must have come from the highest levels of government.”
“Obama is using the power of the IRS and other government agencies
to punish his political opposition and intimidate and silence his
critics,” Root charged at the time.
At that time he was calling for congressional hearings “to
determine if the Obama administration is misusing its power to damage or
ruin the lives, drain the finances, or just distract Obama’s critics
and political opposition.”
Now, the House Ways and Means Committee has scheduled a formal hearing for Friday to probe the IRS scandal.
In March 2012 hearings before the Financial Services and the Ways
and Means Oversight subcommittees, former IRS Commissioner Douglas
Shulman twice denied that the IRS had targeted conservative groups.
On Monday, Root contacted the office of Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., offering to testify before Congress.
Root said that until this week, he would not have expected scrutiny
of the Obama administration to get much traction, but with the news
Monday that the Justice Department secretly obtained two months of
telephone records of Associated Press journalists, he thinks the media
“woke up overnight and realized this is a tyrant that we’ve got in
charge.”
Root has been a relentless critic of Obama in thousands of
appearances on political talk shows on TV and radio over the past four
and a half years, focusing on what he calls the president’s
anti-capitalist policies. He also writes columns and commentaries for
many popular conservative websites.
A pre-law and political science major in the class of 1983, like
the president, Root told WND that he received an “unsettling” telephone
call from an IRS agent in January 2011 who called himself a fan of his
and considered it “an honor” to audit him.
Root won a complete victory last summer in tax court, which found
no taxes owed in his 2007 and 2008 filings. But then, he said, he and
his tax attorney were shocked when he was hit with a new audit just five
days later, for 2009 and 2010.
Root told WND in October he knew of many cases like his that
pointed to a pattern of abuse by the Obama administration, including
audits of high-profile friends who contribute to the Republican Party
and GOP bundlers.
This week, Root has received many emails from people who identify
as conservative and believe the IRS has been harassing them for
political reasons.
He said he was contacted by a Mormon man who said everyone he knew
in his small Mormon community was being audited for the first time in
their lives.
The man told Root the Mormons are easy to identify because their
tax forms show they give 10 percent of their income to the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Root said the Mormon man told him, “Everywhere I go, I run into
people who are being audited, and they have never been audited before.”
Root sees the alleged targeting of Mormons as consistent with the
report Tuesday that the IRS was targeting Jewish groups that are
pro-Israel.
“Who in America would be more conservative Republican and donate more to Romney than Mormons?” he asked.
Cloward and Piven
Root has charged that Obama is borrowing from the radical,
collectivist strategy of former Columbia professors Richard Cloward and
Frances Fox Piven.
The aim is to overwhelm the welfare system for the purpose of
collapsing it and replacing it with a system of guaranteed annual
income.
“I’ve been saying it since he was elected in 2008,” Root said of
Obama, “his goal is the Cloward and Piven plan we learned at Columbia
University – you’ve got to bankrupt your opposition and you’ve got to
bankrupt the United States of America. You’ve got to bankrupt it with
debts, entitlements and spending. And it’s all happening in front of our
very eyes.”
The new admission by the IRS, he said, supports his contention that
Obama aims to attack business owners who fund conservative candidates
and causes until they have no money left.
“If you raise people’s taxes and regulate them to death, and assess
IRS liens and audit them to death, eventually the people who write all
the big checks to conservative causes will go bankrupt,” he said.
Root acknowledges his assessment of Obama opens himself to charges
that he is extreme, but he insists anyone who has met him “would
describe him as a family man or a man of faith” who does not exaggerate
or “wear a tin foil hat.”
“And yet,” he said. “I believe with every bone in my body that
Barack Obama is a Marxist out to destroy capitalism and the United
States of America.”
Now, he said, as Obama is hit with a perfect storm of scandals, “you tell me if anything I’ve said now appears to be extreme.”
“No,” he said, “the only extremists here are the radical Marxists sitting in the White House.”
After Obama’s inaugural speech in January, House Speaker John
Boehner seemed to agree that Obama was undertaking a scorched-earth
political strategy, notably declaring that he believed the president
wanted to “annihilate” the Republican Party.
Boehner said the broader goal of the administration was “to just shove us into the dustbin of history.”
Recalling Boehner’s statement, Root commented: “That’s how you become a communist or socialist nation.”
Root drew wide attention as the Libertarian Party vice presidential
candidate in 2008 when he contended that although he and Obama were
both pre-law and political science majors in Columbia’s class of 1983,
he never even heard of Obama during his time at the university. None of
the classmates with whom he’s spoken knew of him either, he claimed.
A 2008 Wall Street Journal article cited a Fox News survey of 400 people who were Columbia students from 1981 to 1983 and found no one who remembered Obama.
Root told WND Tuesday it’s telling that still no one from his
Columbia days has come forward and declared any knowledge of Obama
during that time.
“Every kid I went to school with was a liberal, trending toward Marxist. They all said it.
They all said they were proud Marxists,” Root said. “You would
think they would defend the president, and you would have students
saying, ‘I knew him, and Wayne Root is wrong.’ No one has.”
There’s “just dead silence,” he said.
“Nobody saw him there. There is something wrong with the story, I am telling you.”
If
there was ANY doubt that our liberty, our privacy and our freedom are
under attack from the same government that is supposed to be PROTECTING
our rights, revelations of the past few days should remove those doubts
once and for all.
First,
we learn that the IRS, one of government’s most powerful tools of
force, has been targeting so-called “conservative” non-profits for not
just intense scrutiny, but pure harassment. You can read the official report from the Treasury Department’s own Inspector General here: IG Report.
Then,
in a truly ironic bit of news, we find out that the Department of
Justice secretly seized the records for more than 20 phone lines used by
hundreds of people at the Associated Press -- a disclosure that has prompted all kinds of outrage. Of course, my question is: Where is all that outrage when the rights of ordinary citizens are trampled? Now that the media is the target, it’s a big deal. How about when you and I are the targets?
And...for those in Congress who are suddenly rushing to the aid of AP, my question is: Where was all that concern for privacy and free speech when you voted for the Patriot Act, which arguably “legalized” precisely the kind of spying on Americans that DOJ was conducting? Perhaps
Congress needs to be a bit careful before crucifying federal
investigators for simply doing what Congress told them to do.
The American people need to understand that these types of government abuses of power are happening every day.
As long as we have an IRS and a tax code that is designed to reward
some and punish others, it will be used as a massive tool of government
force. And when laws such as the Patriot Act and the NDAA are
enacted, the provisions of those laws WILL be used to trample our
rights.
Spreading
that understanding and mobilizing Americans to stand up for our rights
is exactly why the Our America Initiative was founded, and exactly why we want and need your support for our Live Free Projects. Your contribution today at Our America
allows us to sponsor the campus rallies, arrange the media appearances
and use state-of-the-art communications tools to reach the millions of
individuals who can, when organized, push back against the very abuses that are dominating the news these past few days.
I have made the personal decision that I cannot sit by and let liberty and freedom be destroyed by our very own government. I hope you will make that same decision, and join me in supporting Our America.Your
contribution, no matter how small -- or how large, goes directly to
finance the fight for liberty. Please take a moment to help.
We
can win this fight. Never before in our lifetimes has the nation been
more ready to demand a smaller, less costly and less abusive government.
The Our America Initiative has a critical role to play in
restoring liberty, and you have a critical role to play in making our
work possible.
Thank you, and let’s get to work!
Governor Gary Johnson
Honorary Chairman
Our America Initiative
P.S. Next Tuesday, May 21, I am hosting a Google Hangout.
I hope you can participate -- or simply watch if you prefer. Online
activism is a big part of our effort, and these “virtual” town halls are
an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, talk about the issues and
engage more and more people in what we are doing. Here is the
information you need to watch or participate: Google Plus Event.
About
Governor Gary Johnson: A two-term governor of New Mexico from
1995-2003, Gary Johnson has been a consistent advocate for limited,
efficient government and personal liberty. As the Libertarian candidate
for President in 2012, he received more votes than any Libertarian
candidate in history. An outspoken pro-Constitution libertarian, Johnson
opposes American involvement in foreign conflicts with no clear U.S.
interest. He opposes the failed multi-billion dollar war on drugs and
demands greater transparency at the Federal Reserve. Johnson advocates
cutting federal spending dramatically to achieve a balanced budget and
make government live within its means without raising taxes. He believes
real job creation and economic opportunity can be best achieved through
smaller government and less regulation. The National Review rated
Johnson as "#1" in job creation as governor. An avid skier and
bicyclist, he has reached the highest peaks on five of the seven
continents, including Mount Everest and, recently, Aconcagua in
Argentina.
OUR
America Initiative seeks to broaden the parameters of the public policy
debate in the national arena. We look to enlighten Americans about
civil liberties, free enterprise, limited government, and the
traditional American values of freedom and liberty. It is our aim to
increase discussion and involvement regarding all-important issues of
the day.
