Boyd says "people along the Gulf Coast are impatient."
Panama City: Steve Southerland responded today to Allen Boyd's comments that "people along the Gulf Coast are impatient" when it comes to the issue of the oil rig explosion and catastrophic oil leak still unresolved in the Gulf.Click here to read WJHG-TV article.
Southerland said, "Our economy is facing a crisis, and our way of life along the coast is being threatened. We aren't impatient; we are fed up! We've had enough of our inept government, it's enablers and excuse makers, like Allen Boyd. During seven straight weeks of currents and winds that favored the coast of Florida by holding off the oil, our government used none of that time to protect our beaches or inland waters from the oil that would inevitably come our way. Their idea of managing the oil spill is to shut down drilling and close more and more of the Gulf to fishing."
Southerland went on to say, "Now that the oil is washing up on the coast of Florida, Florida's Second Congressional District is going to be hit hard economically. Even before the oil was close to the coastline, hotels, condominiums and fishing charters began to see cancellations. Soon businesses will be forced to lay people off and possibly even close up shop. This will be on the heels of the 1,500 jobs lost at Tyndall AFB and Sallie Mae, thanks directly to Allen Boyd and his lack of leadership and his willingness to rubber stamp the Obama-Pelosi agenda."Click here to read Newsherald article.
"Instead of playing politics and giving useless press conferences, President Obama and Allen Boyd need to be focused on helping to stop the oil leak FIRST and then determining, after a thorough investigation, what went wrong and how future catastrophes like this can be avoided. BP should and will be held accountable for their negligence.However, the immediate urgency is to stop the leak and to ensure that our economy, our jobs, and our beautiful coastline are not again negatively impacted."
Southerland concluded by saying, "Washington D.C. is backwards in its focus, and it is time for the people to send a representative to D.C. who will stand up for the common sense values of Florida's Second Congressional District and fight against the Obama-Pelosi-Boyd agenda that is damaging the very core of what made America the greatest nation on earth."

I appreciate you taking the opportunity to contact my office to share your thoughts on H.R. 503, the American Horse Slaughter Act. It is always nice to hear from the people of North Florida.
I agree with you that horses are some of nature's most magnificent animals. Over time, man has learned to live together with horses, and at one point in history, horses were one of a person's most important possessions. They served a number of purposes, including the important role of companionship. While we no longer use horses the way we once did, these beloved animals can still provide the same loyalty and companionship that our ancestors enjoyed.
H.R. 503 would amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, receiving, possessing, and purchasing of horses to be slaughtered for human consumption. In the past, I have had serious concerns about this legislation because of statements by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). Both of these groups stated that there are already large numbers of unwanted horses and that current rescue facilities would not be able to adequately care for the additional 110,000 horses a year which are currently exported for slaughter or slaughtered domestically. Given this large number, and the fact that studies have shown that caring for an unwanted horse can cost up to $2,300 a year, even the proponents of H.R. 503 concede that many of the horses in question will simply be sent to rendering plants and slaughtered there, instead of being slaughtered for human consumption.
Having horses slaughtered for use in industrial products instead of being slaughtered for human consumption does not represent a victory for horses or those who care about them. In addition, it would also impose a cost on horse owners because rendering plants charge to remove the animal while slaughter plants do not. This is why I do not support H.R. 503.
While we disagree on this issue, I hope that you will continue to stay in touch with my office on other matters of importance to you in the future.
I have been so angry about that happened last night at the so-called town hall meeting called by Rep. Allen Boyd, D-FL, that I was moved to write this. It took hours to write. I sent it to a friend to edit - she's a writer also who said SEND IT.
So I not only sent it to the paper, I sent it to my email list. Someone on my email list sent it to his list and I just got a note of support from out of state, and that person has sent it to his list of 300. Maybe the paper won't print it. I have my doubts. So I'm sending this to you. If you are moved to copy and send it, you have my permission. Send it to newspapers, newsletters, email friends, talk show hosts. Record it and put it on You tube.
This was the first volley of civil disobedience here in the panhandle of Florida. There was no doubt about it - Allen Boyd was mooned en masse, by covered derriere's, but nevertheless, a collective moon. I was one of the first ones out, and I am very proud.

Last night (November 10) I was proud to be a part of the citizen-patriot walkout on Congressman Allen Boyd (D-FL).
The attendance was not as sparse as reported.Inside that “cavernous gym” with the terrible PA system, there were several hundred people.
As expected, Boyd was arrogant, disdainful, rude and at one time physical, grabbing a microphone away from a senior veteran with such force, I was surprised the man didn’t fall off the steps.A caller to Burnie Thompson’s talk show said this morning that this was a case of assault and that the heavily armed security guards should have intervened.None of them did.But I agree.Had anyone done that to Boyd, they would have been taken away in handcuffs and charged.
It is possible that attendance was low because he voted against Obamacare as a Blue Dog.
He is no Blue Dog.Make no mistake, he did this to lull you into complacency and he will have won when he votes for the bill in the next time around.
It is also possible that you don’t understand the severe restrictions to personal liberty and freedom that this bill will force upon the American people.If you haven’t read the bill, then you owe it to yourself, your friends, your family to read at least a summary.For instance, on pages844-845 the Home Visitation Program includes government coming into your house and telling you how to parent.On pages 820-824 in Sec. 1801, Government will identify individuals ineligible for subsidies.Will access all personal finances. You will submit to healthcare rationing (Sec 1751).How about Section 1714, page 770 in which the Federal Government mandates eligibility for State Family Planning Services.Say abortion and state sovereignty.
The above-mentioned items are from two pages of a summary of the nearly 2,000 page bill.And do not forget that if you refuse for any reason, you will be fined as much as $250,000.You will also be imprisoned.If you are imprisoned or do not have the money to pay, what will happen to your assets?They will be confiscated.Then what do you do?You may be homeless.Where will your family go?What will they do if you are not home.Will they be imprisoned as well, and the children submitted to government custody?
Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention the heavy hand of government forcing an American sovereign citizen to purchase anything from the government.Force.By Force.

As discovered from calls to his office and the Panama City News Herald, yesterday's edition, Rep. Allen Boyd (D-FL) has decided to call off the Obamacare moderated panel discussion at Gulf Coast Community College, Panama City, FL despite 500 ticket recipients who had to pick them up at the college. They were sold out in two hours.
He disdains Bay County so much, that he decided against a town hall meeting and hold this instead, so there would be control of questions and answers.
A few days before, the Bay Patriots (www.baypatriots.org), issued a Citizen Summons for a free interchange of questions and answers in a more traditional format to be held at the college in the courtyard of Amelia Center in the theater arts building. With Burnie Thompson, local talk show host, advertising this town hall, adjacent counties, Sallie May employees, local interested citizens who are averse to Obamacare and other issues, this family and Constitution-oriented event will be held with or without Boyd. Boyd will be in Bay County today, but apparently is too disinterested in his constituents to bother.
This should send a flag up to all counties and constituents in his Congressional district because at any time, he could turn on you.
For all interested parties who want to exercise our Constitutional right to redress government, bring the family to see our rights to this ideal in action. Someone has donated hot dogs and hamburgers. The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight. Bring lawn chairs and an umbrella.
If he doesn't show, there will be gigantic pieces of paper with your questions, to be mailed to Boyd.
He isn't performing to his oath. He needs to be fired.
Allen Boyd has so much disdain for Bay County, Florida that instead of a townhall meeting, to which we are entitled for a free exchange of comment and information, that he has changed the rules. Now there will be tickets - only 500 - available - which are a to be picked up at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City.
He has asked three physicians to speak on Obamacare instead of making himself available in a traditional townhall. In no other county in his district has he done this. He knows we are politically aware, and that we disagree with many of his decisions.
I suggest that residents of Bay and the neighboring counties in his district pick up the phone or send a fax to him to ask him why he has done this. We have many more areas of concern, like cap and trade, forced vaccinations for the flu with military involvement for an example.

What if no one except the Democrats get the tickets? What if the great unwashed citizens of Bay County choose to protest outside on the sidewalk on August 28?
What if we don't attend at all and march together with signs of redress? That would embarrass him and make national headlines, and really, isn't that our right?
