When I was a kid growing up there were two great cooks in the kitchen, Grandma Decker (whose parents were from Cuba and Spain - she was first generation) and my mother.
Bread pudding made its appearance on the table as dessert at least twice a month. My father had a sweet tooth, and most nights dessert of some kind was served, always homemade. Bread pudding and rice pudding were standards. Nothing fancy. No fruit, no raisins. Just slices of white bread, vanilla, milk, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and eggs (except in the rice pudding - no eggs). Pretty basic, and scary delicious! And it made the house smell SO GOOD!
Here - pick one out, try it and then tell me how good it was.
Yummy!
