TODAY IS EASTER, AND MANY OF US ALL OVER THE WORLD CELEBRATE KINDNESS, COMPASSION, REDEMPTION IN A TRIUMPH OVER DEATH

All of us have seen the depictions of Christ, a gentle man, surrounded by animals, often carrying a lamb, children, disciples who is the symbol of Christianity, a man of miracles, the epitome of purity and goodness; who would never harm an innocent. Today the Resurrection is celebrated worldwide - the triumph of good over evil, eternal life after death.

And then when I booted up the computer, and the CNN page came up, a video caught my eye.

It was an undercover video taken at a calf ranch in Texas and the vicious cruelty meted out on these innocent animals destined for your table by cruel men without souls. What is it in their mental and emotional makeup that makes cruelty all right?

There are several agricultural states and a Senator (scroll through the blog - you will see the entry about photographing cruelty at ranches, farms, labs and puppy mills and making whistleblowing a felony) from Michigan, I think, who are prepared to lobby for this victory. Florida is one of them.

What you are about to see is so graphic that the tv reporter couldn't allow most of it to be viewed.

I just watched the first minute and burst into tears and sobbing. I have been fortunate enough to have kept livestock in my care since the 1970s. I'm sick about this.

Even if you are not inclined to act on behalf of animal welfare, this is YOUR food supply.

There is a humane way of ending the life of a suffering animal by way of a merciful bullet.

These people are barbarians.

DO NOT LET CHILDREN WATCH THIS VIDEO.
IT IS MUCH TOO DISTURBING.

OBAMA AND EPA DETERMINED TO DISMANTLE US BEEF INDUSTRY - WE MAY NEED "STRATEGIC HAMBURGER SUPPLIES'

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/beef-industry-us-may-need-strategic-hamb

If you don't know how to grow it (I'm lousy in the garden, but I can raise livestock), or raise it, you'd better start learning.

Time to thumb your noses at zoning restrictions and grow your own meat and produce.

Hens are quiet, especially banties - no one will know you have them.

Goats are excellent sources of meat (the meat breeds), and milk and butter. The bucks smell terribly during breeding season and the odor travels, but the does are wonderful pets and companions who will produce babies for meat, milk or barter. They are quiet, and kept clean, they don't have any odor. The manure from chickens and goats get composted and there's your fertilizer. Rabbits can be kept in hutches, produce lots of babies and are good to eat. The pellets and urine are excellent fertilizer and can be put in your garden without composting. Won't burn your plants.

Take a look at the following magazines and sites: Grit, Mother Earth News, Murray McMurray Hatcheries, and get on some of the web's homesteading lists.

Senate Bill 787 - "Clean Water" may steal your well, your irrigation ditch, your municipal wells, your wetlands, creeks, etc.

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s787/show

Senate is about to pass this bill. It's another wolf (my apologies to the wolves - they are as dangerous as cotton balls compared to our Congress).

I got called out on this locally by an activist acquaintance because of an unneeded airport built on thousands of acres of pristine wetlands. I agree in this case. But this is federal control of ALL WATER. Federal control of anything is a bad thing.

Assuming that all family farmers/ranchers know how to manage their land better than big agra or the government, it has far reaching implications for them. Also, the feds can come into your property without a warrant and do whatever they want to do. It's all in there. Read it.

Here's the toll-free if you want to give your Congresscritter a call - works for Senate or the House of Representatives. 877-851-6437.
