From Campaign to restore Florida's 10th Amendment and the Republican party plays dirty

These Are The Times That Try Men’s Souls…Like Mine!

Hopefully you have heard of the statewide purge that the Republican Party of Florida has undertaken against me and many other supporters of Liberty. Delivered with only the swiftness that Fedex can provide, the Grievance Committee has told us to appear at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fl on July 24 and 25.

The offenses that we have committed range from criticizing State Chairman Jim Greer publicly, to wearing a Ron Paul button after the nomination of John McCain. I’m personally charged with having a negative ‘tone’ and being uncivil (no examples were sited).

But this is no laughing matter. Being found guilty is punishable by a four-year banishment from holding office in any RPOF organization. Some will wonder where the punishment in that is! For those of us that hope to reform the Party, this is critical. And for those that have spent a lifetime serving, it is particularly galling.

At times like these I’m tempted to just say, “What the heck, let someone else fight this battle. I’ve given enough all ready.” I was instrumental in garnering hundreds of people to sign-up for the Orange County Republican Executive Committee in 2008/2009 (which planted the target on my back). Which followed a year and a half of nonstop volunteering (augmented with financial donations) for the Ron Paul for President campaign. At some point you have to ask where it all ends.

When I decided to go beyond reading about the latest political trends and occasionally volunteering, I knew the stakes would get higher. But for every setback or obstacle, I received much support and joy from my efforts. Whether it was starting an online Meetup group of one (me) and watching it grow to over 400 (still doing nicely, I might add;-). And then connecting with other liberty minded people around Florida (and you know who you are; sorry I haven’t kept in touch as much as I’d like). It all seemed to balance out.

But now, we face one the biggest challenges yet. As we have begun to try and reform the Republican Party of Florida, some of us have been singled out as leaders always are.

We have one week to raise a couple thousand dollars to pay the already heavily discounted and charitable rate of Fred O’Neil Attorney at Law. Fred has distinguished himself by fighting many civil liberty battles, some even reaching the Florida Supreme Court. But when he was approached, he stood ready to help. RPOF and their raft of lawyers await our response.

All I ask is that you consider, ‘If it was me who was before this Star Chamber, what would I hope for?” I’m asking you to donate money because it really is you that is up there. We are fighting for the right to speak openly about the changes that are desperately needed in RPOF. We lose this battle, or worse, back down, and I don’t think you have to imagine the consequences. No one will speak up. No one will challenge Jim Greer and his cronies. Why should they? If the Liberty movement can be crushed once with not so much as a whimper of complaint or protest, it can be crushed anytime.

Guys, it’s up to you. I, and others, put our reputations and work on the line. How about you?

Please donate as much as you can, but I’d really like to put out a challenge to at least donate $10. It’s important that all of us stand together.
