OK, SO IF THE DEVILS IN DC DECIDE TO CUT OFF FOOD DELIVERY, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS?
Start with chickens and guinea fowl if you live in the suburbs or out in your counties...let them breed and free range. Convince your neighbors to do the same. It's all about survival in times of crisis. Same with quiet little rabbits and release them in your yards - they'll find their way out and find a way to breed.
The chickens will eat insects and seeds, the wonderful guineas will roost in trees at night and make a lot of screechy noise if there are predators or unwanted visitors in the dark. Guaranteed to wake you up. They also keep snakes and insects away, eat seeds and forage. They're pretty much wild.
If you live near water, ducks and geese. The big snapping turtles, bass or muskies will take some of them, and so will alligators. That's to be expected.
If you're hungry, they could save your life. If you have urban/suburban/neighborhood laws that prevent you from keeping a coop of chickens, get the laws and policies changed. That may take a little work on your part. There should be NO "law" that prevents you from having a garden in a subdivision or keeping domestic poultry or fowl or food.
Same goes for small livestock like goats.
Just a thought on a rainy day. Something big and bad is afoot. The government will control you, not save you.

USDA: SURRENDER YOUR LEMON TREE! NOW!
http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2011/10/04/no-lemon-tree-for-you/
Truly, unbelievable.
Do you realize how much trouble we are in, and if you have an undocumented, prohibited lemon tree, you are marked men and women?

WISCONSIN: NO RIGHT TO PRODUCE OR EAT HOME GROWN FOOD
http://www.prisonplanet.com/wi-no-right-to-produce-or-eat-food.html
Time to impeach that judge, Wisconson. I can't believe this is real, it's so bizarre, and bizarre that you haven't fought for your own food!

TELL THE EPA WE DON'T WANT MERCURY IN OUR STRAWBERRIES

There is a link on this site to a letter - you need to read it.
Seems like the EPA is out to destroy our food, our soil and water.
They should be defunded.

VERMONT REFUSES THE FOOD SAFETY BILL. HERE IS OUR CHANCE TO FIGHT IT.
This is for Florida. It is an exact copy of Vermont's bill. Copy and paste into email or faxes. PASS IT ON!
Toll free to Congress is 1-877-851-6437
WHEREAS All people are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, and among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; and
WHEREAS Food is human sustenance and is the fundamental prerequisite to life; and

WHEREAS Food is human sustenance and is the fundamental prerequisite to life; and
WHEREAS The basis of human sustenance rests on the ability of all people to save seed, grow, process, consume and exchange food and farm products; and
WHEREAS We the People of Florida, have an obligation to protect these rights as is the Common and Natural Law; and in recognition of the State’s proud agricultural heritage; and the necessity of agricultural, ecological and economic diversity and sustainability to a free and healthy Society;
THEREFORE, Be it resolved, that We The People, stand on our rights under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution and reject such Federal decrees, statutes, regulations or corporate practices that threaten our basic human right to save seed, grow, process, consume and exchange food and farm products within the State of Florida; and,

Be it further resolved, that We The People, shall resist any and all infringements upon these rights, from whatever sources that are contrary to the rights of the People of the State of Florida.
Let us follow Vermont's lead and refuse to allow this bill to be enforced in our state. This draconian bill is not about food safety. It is a bill of government control of our food including the use of genetically modified seed and food. Vermont has done a courageous thing by writing this refusal. It is the first state to do so and we should get behind it and begin the movement to kill this bill. Change the name of your state and start pushing back.
If you are not from Florida, use this text to start the movement in your state. It is simple and to the point. We do not need a 2,000 page document to say 'NO'!

Three honeybees...
just three were nectaring in my pear tree the other day. I was happy to see them, but disappointed to see so few. Apiaries are having a hard time not only with Varroa mites, but this new and devastating problem called CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder).
The subject of Mason bees came up during a conversation last week. I've seen them in the wildflowers. They are larger than honeybees, shiny, black and bustled. The pollen clings to their bustles and they are first class pollinators.
My garden was nothing to be proud of last year. I'm going to encourage Mason bees to come and pollinate the tomatoes and herbs I plan to put in soon by putting up houses for them. It's not a difficult project at all...
