This is an interesting site and this petition is close to my heart.

This could happen to any of us - seeing our dog dead and knowing it did nothing. 

Some of the petitions my conservative friends may not support - doesn't matter.  You might want to start a petition.  This is the first time I've seen this site.  I'm still exploring.

One woman threw a cigarette butt out of her window. Neither woman deserved an illegal cavity search and threats. The Texas troopers were filmed during the arrest, proving that the female officer reached down the front and back of the two women's pants without even changing her gloves. This not only violates the women's basic rights, but it poses a threat to their health and safety. A physically invasive cavity search should never take place when a citizen commits a small act of littering. When the two women tried to file a complaint, the Department of Safety threatened them with lying. Conducting an uncalled-for cavity search is already horrific. Doing so without changing the glove, and then threatening the victim is above and beyond abuse of power. Make sure Texas Troopers stop assualting women! THE BRITS JUST DON'T GET IT.

Thousands Sign Heartland Institute Petition
to Rein in the EPA

More than 5,000 people have signed a petition crafted by The Heartland Institute demanding that Congress “rein in the Environmental Protection Agency” through deep cuts in the size, power, and cost of the agency.

According to the Citizen’s Petition to Rein in the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA has “lost its war to scare America into giving [it] legislation that would allow [it] to seize control of virtually all energy production and use, [and is] perverting the Clean Air law to give [itself] unprecedented powers to regulate American society.”

Heartland says it will publicly present the petitions to Congress once the drive hits 10,000 signatures.

Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, says that in the name of fighting global warming, EPA has become a “rogue agency,” spending $9 billion in 2012 alone to shackle individuals and businesses with expensive and wasteful compliance orders and mandates without the consent of Congress. According to Bast:

“The toll EPA is now taking on our country is staggering, putting hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work at a time when millions of people are out of work and our reliance on foreign sources of energy threatens to compromise the nation’s security. The solution is to rein in EPA through deep cuts in the size, power, and cost of the agency. This can be done by Congress, through its control over the government’s purse, or by a president willing to put sound science and a strong economy ahead of the demands of environmental extremists.”

Under President Barack Obama, the Executive Branch’s quest for power at the expense of the other two Branches appears to be accelerating. In fact, the administration’s propensity to sidestep the Constitution is making news nearly every day now.

According to columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner of The Washington Times, through his quietly announced “National Defense Resources Preparedness” Executive Order (EO) signed on March 16th, President Obama placed himself and certain government bureaucrats above the law.

That single EO granted the power “to commandeer all U.S. domestic resources, including food and water, as well as seize all energy and transportation infrastructure inside the borders of the United States.”

Further, the Government can also forcibly draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill ‘labor requirements’ for the purposes of ‘national defense.’ There is not even any congressional oversight allowed – only briefings, says Kuhner.

Mr. Kuhner called Obama’s power grab, “stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution… He now possesses the potential powers of a dictator.”

++Obama’s Executive Order gives unprecedented power to unelected bureaucrats.

Under the President’s control in an undefined scenario of “national defense,” the Order gives…

• The Secretary of Defense power over all water resources;
• The Secretary of Commerce power over all material services and facilities, including construction materials;
• The Secretary of Transportation power over all forms of civilian transportation;
• The Secretary of Agriculture power over food resources and facilities, livestock plant health resources, and the domestic distribution of farm equipment;
• The Secretary of Health and Human Services power over all health resources;
• The Secretary of Energy power over all forms of energy.

This order seizes more power for the Executive Branch while diminishing the Legislative Branch – and is blatantly unconstitutional. Sadly, it is only one of several such attacks on the Constitution we have seen in 2012.
