To those (like Mr. Soetoro/Obama) who would rewrite history, Thomas Jefferson must be at the top of the list. This wise, brilliant man helped form the Republic, and doubted we could keep it. His words ring in profound relevance and gravity today, even more than they did foretelling how apathetic and ignorant future generations would become; enough to lose our Republic.
To all of you who love America, to all of you who suffer from dictators and never really dreamed you could be free, to all the fathers from one of the great fathers and thinkers of our emerging nation, here is Thomas Jefferson. Study his words, make freedom ring for Father's Day and every day. Do it for your family, do it for your community and your country. Being a father is not without great responsibility.
Be brave, be courageous, be protective and give your life to the ideals of freedom and liberty.
Happy Father's Day, wherever you are.
God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.
