Stop chaining dogs - Care 2, the Petition Site

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/812117772?z00m=17473809

In Marion County, FL, there is a petition circulating on the above subject of chaining dogs; something most dog owners find really abhorrent. You will read about it at the link above. If the drive is successful, owners will only be allowed to chain a dog for three hours per day. Good for Marion County!

I hope you will sign it, and perhaps leave a comment.

The video from YouTube is really touching.

When my parents were living, late in the lives, they moved to a ground floor apartment in Staten Island. Across the fence was Sandy. She was on a short chain with no doghouse; no chance to get out of the rain the snow or the cold. She was too far away for them to put food out, so Dad and Mom would toss what they could to her. Dad spoke to the owner, who dismissed him

In summer there was no way to get water, even if they left it for her. She would drink it and then be without. Her last winter she grew terribly thin, and one day she had frozen to death.

It hurt my parents terribly. They were animal lovers and would love to have taken her in and release her from her chain.

So if you know someone with dogs on a chain, or left in a kennel, maybe you can convince them of a better way.
