I do this for dear Granny Annie - an old, ugly Boston terrier with whom I was blessed for a year and a half.
I'll never forget her.
She was a special little angel...heaven sent, indeed.

Hungry - now Handsome Howie HAS A HOME!
THREE CHEERS FOR HOWIE!
It has taken him so long to be adopted. But now he's safe at home.
Here's the email I just received from his benefactor, Jim.
Thanks for all your interest and caring about Howie, the dog we found in Florida. Got word today that his adoption went through and he has a wonderful home in Arlington, Virginia with a nice family with a great house and yard, beds for him on all three floors, and a family that includes a work at home Dad who will be there with him every day. I'm so glad it all worked out for him and I just wanted to let you know.
Blessings on the lucky family who adopted this dog, whose unflagging spirit and indomitable will to live was so great, he was not euthanized when most dogs in his condition would have been. If you don't know about Howie, please read the posts on this blog by going to the search box under the photo and typing in Howie. There are several, with photos. Some will hurt your heart. Some will make you sing.
It has taken a good year and a half to recover and finally find a home.
God watches over animals and their rescuers, too.

Granny Annie, my newest adoptee was sure to be one of these. She is old (see her entry of a month ago), not pretty or even vaguely attractive, and is missing a front leg. She is scarred. Her sweet face must have been broken between the eyes. But she is a wonderful old girl and will have a full belly, a soft place to sleep and a happy heart for as long as she lives.
Our faltering economy, job and home losses are filling up these facilities. Please open your heart and your home and adopt a shelter dog or cat. They really need you now.
