DEMOCRATS BLOCKED SEX OFFENDER LEGISLATION FOR MORE THAN A YEAR...AND YOU'RE SURPRISED, RIGHT?

Democrats Blocked Sex Offender Legislation For More Than a Year

Senate Democrats have been sitting on a bill for more than a year that helps law enforcement quickly track down violent sex offenders. In March of 2011, Republican Senator Jeff Sessions introduced the Finding Fugitive Sex Offenders Act in order to give the Marshals Service the tools it needed to track down sex offenders. Session's legislation had bipartisan support, 21 cosponsors and was tacked onto the bipartisan Child Protection Act. Yesterday, the legislation finally passed.

“I am pleased to see my proposal finally pass, and grateful to Senators Cornyn and Blumenthal for including it in the Child Protection Act. I introduced the Finding Fugitive Sex Offenders Act in order to help the U.S. Marshals Service track down sex offenders who fail to register as required by law and attempt to evade detection. Speed is critical in child abduction cases. These investigations are often fast-moving, and I believe this law will prove to be a useful tool to help law enforcement find missing children. Many other investigative agencies already have this authority, but curiously it is not available in these critical situations. Now the Marshals Service can more easily track these offenders in real time across multiple jurisdictions and hopefully stop future crimes before they occur," Sessions said in a statement.

Why does this matter? For two reasons. First, Obama Democrats and the Obama administration have a habit of going soft on violent sex offenders, specifically sex offenders targeting children. The second being that the administration and Democrats in general accused Republicans all year of waging a war on women, but didn't adopt this legislation until after the election.

BETRAYAL OF AMERICAN PEOPLE: THE SENATE PASSES THE 2013 NDAA WHICH EXPANDS THE OBAMA'S POWERS TO KIDNAP YOU

The Senate passed the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). It expands the President's powers to kidnap you.
This criminal piece of legislation passed 98-0, with Sens. Kirk and Rockefeller not voting.
That's right, 98-0. Only twice in the last half-century has the Defense Authorization been unanimous.
If ever there was a vote where a Senator could express his principled opposition, this was it. It's not as if the caucus needed their vote.
Yet not one took advantage.
The bill is now in Conference Committee to be reconciled with a House version. A final vote in both chambers will quickly follow.
Please protest. Deny your consent.
That's why I wrote this letter using DownsizeDC.org's Indefinite Detention campaign...
I'm angry that you didn't repeal the detainee provisions of the 2012 NDAA. Worse, the Feinstein Amendment in the 2013 NDAA appears to EXPAND these illegal kidnapping powers. http://tinyurl.com/d72qs89
This criminal piece of legislation also...
* Punishes the innocent citizens of Iran by expanding the sanctions against that country (which is no serious threat to us).
* Expands so-called "counter-terrorism" operations (illegal drone wars) and foreign aid in the Third World. These policies CREATE enemies.
And it spends $650 billion -- SIX TIMES the amount China spends on Defense.
You couldn't find ANY substantial cuts? Seriously?
Does it really make sense for us to continue borrowing from China so we can station troops in wealthy countries like Japan and Germany? Seriously?
Those who voted for this bill demonstrated . . .
* Contempt for civil liberties and the Constitution
* Support for illegal wars
* A love of Pentagon pork
* A distaste for fiscal prudence
I deny my consent for you to "govern me" this way.
I'll be watching your vote on the final version of NDAA. Get it right next time. Vote no.

SENATE BILL FUNDS MORE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LAND GRABS

http://netrightdaily.com/2012/03/senate-transportation-bill-funds-more-federal-government-land-grabs/

Is it my imagination, or is the illustration showing a lot of the Bakken in this?

How convenient - a land grab for oil country - shut it down tight so we won't be developing it any time soon.

MONTANANS LAUNCH RECALL OF SENATORS WHO APPROVED NDAA MILITARY DETENTION - GO MONTANA! EVERY STATE SHOULD BE DOING THIS STARTING TODAY!

Montanans Launch Recall of Senators Who Approved NDAA Military Detention. Merry Christmas, US Senate

by Ralph Lopez

UPDATE 12/26/2011:

This is from a statement from Stewart Rhodes of Oathkeepers regarding Republican Denny Rehberg as a target of recall, who also voted for NDAA.
Here in Montana, while we will go after all three violators of the Bill of Rights, I will place special emphasis and "focus of effort" on Denny Rehberg, since he is so fond of wrapping himself in the flag and claiming to be defending the Constitution while his votes do the exact opposite. In that sense, Rehberg is much like John McCain and Lindsey Graham, two Republicans who, right along with Carl Levin and Joseph Lieberman, are leading a sustained and relentless assault on our Bill of Rights.
Disclaimer: I am now a volunteer press contact for this campaign.

>From the press release:
Moving quickly on Christmas Day after the US Senate voted 86 - 14 to pass the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 (NDAA) which allows for the indefinite military detention of American citizens without charge or trial, Montanans have announced the launch of recall campaigns against Senators Max Baucus and Jonathan Tester, who voted for the bill. ......
