Bob Beckel: Women Don’t Need Guns Because Rape on College Campuses Doesn’t Happen
During a discussion on Fox News’ The Five about concealed carry on
campus, liberal co-host Bob Beckel demonstrated his complete ignorance
regarding the sexual violence women face, particularly on college
campuses.
“When was the last time you heard about a rape on campus?”
Just because each and every rape on campus does not receive
widespread media attention does not mean it’s not happening. Here are
just a few statistics from NYU’s Student Health Center, Mr. Beckel:
- One in 5 college women are raped during their college years.
- Most survivors of sexual assaults are full-time
students. Approximately one-third of them are first year students
between 17-19 years old.
- In a recent study by the National Institute of Justice, survivors of rape knew their attackers as:
o Fellow classmates (35.5%)
o Friends (34.2%)
o Boyfriends or ex-boyfriends (23.7%)
o Acquaintances (2.6%)
- 81% of on-campus and 84% of off-campus sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
- 35% of men report some likelihood that they would rape if they could be assured they wouldn't be caught or punished.
Also disturbing was the fact that Beckel seemed to downplay a
woman’s right to self-defense in cases of date rape. Regardless of who
is attempting to rape a woman on a college campus, or anywhere, she
should be entitled to defend herself, and university policies ought to
reflect as much. As Katie reported yesterday, an emergency call box and safe zones do nothing to help victims of rape.
Update: Beckel issued this “apology”:
"It's a horrible, horrendous issue. And it's simply put, this, rape is rape. Whether it's date rape or it's somebody coming in off the campus trying to rape somebody else. I very strongly feel that way. And so, I just want to straighten the record out on that. I simply was trying to make -- there was not a distinction to make here. It simply was that date rape is rape. And that is, by any other definition, rape is rape."

What Would Happen if the Government Banned Firearms and Tried to Confiscate Our Guns?

If you read the summary of Sen. Diane Feinstein’s proposed assault weapons ban (read it here on her Senate page [1])
it’s very clear that — despite having no idea what an assault weapon
actually is, or how it differs from a semi-automatic hunting rifle
(hint: it doesn’t) — Feinstein’s ultimate motive is no different than
it was back in 1995 [2] when she was for the complete ban and confiscation of ALL weapons from American citizens:
Dianne Feinstein: “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States, for an outright ban, picking up [every gun]… Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in.”
I was discussing Feinstein’s newest assault on our second amendment rights last night with some neighbors — men who have spent more hours hunting and shooting guns than most people spend watching television. Then I brought up this 1995 video. Our conversation naturally turned to “what if…” scenarios and how they would unfold.
As in, “What if…the government banned all semi-automatic weapons and
ordered them be turned in or confiscated from US citizens who would not
do so voluntarily?”
We all quickly agreed a violent revolution and rebellion would occur almost immediately. Most, if not all, members of Congress who voted for the ban/confiscation would be assassinated. In fact, what Bob Owens describes in this post “What You’ll See At the Revolution” [3] is exactly what we described would happen.
And the very first prey that would find themselves in the scopes of the rebels would be the members of Congress who passed this ban and the members of the media who have been their willing mouthpieces and agents of propaganda.
You bed-wetting, pantie-wearing effeminate femboy Liberals might think this is a lot of swagger and bravado, and that no way would citizens be able to rise up and violently over-throw a tyrannical government — that’s because you don’t understand or know men that grew up hunting; inherited the rifles and handguns that were handed down from their grandfathers to their fathers and who are teaching their own sons how to hunt and shoot; men who spent a part of their life in uniform, learning military tactics while promising to defend the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic.
But I have zero doubt that the scenarios described by both Bob Owens and Matt Bracken would unfold eerily close to as described. And I can promise you that I would not obey any order that required me to register, insure, or turn in my guns. And I would join my neighbors and community in any uprising to defy this usurpation, as instructed by our own Declaration of Independence:
But, go ahead, Ms. Feinstein, just go ahead and try to confiscate the guns of tens of millions of law-abiding, freedom-loving citizens. I just hope you’ve seriously considered the consequences.

Among the most ardent opposing these measures will be military veterans, active duty servicemen, and local law enforcement officers. Many of these individuals will refuse to carry out what they view as Constitutionally illegal orders. Perhaps 40-50 million citizens will view such a law as treason. Perhaps ten percent of those, 4-5 million, would support a rebellion in some way, and maybe 40,000-100,000 Americans will form small independently-functioning active resistance cells, or become lone-wolves.Which very closely follows the thoughts described in this oft-linked and -discussed post: “What I Saw At The Coup” [4].
They will be leaderless, stateless, difficult to track, and considering the number of military veterans that would likely be among their number, extremely skilled at sabotage, assassination, and ambush.
After a number of carefully-planned, highly-publicized, and successful raids by the government, one or more will invariably end “badly.” Whether innocents are gunned down, a city block is burned to ash, or especially fierce resistance leads to a disastrously failed raid doesn’t particularly matter. What matters is that when illusion of the government’s invincibility and infallibility is broken, the hunters will become the hunted.

Boston informed Sen. Feinstein that he will not register his weapons nor does he believe the Senator or anyone else in government has the right to require him to do so. Boston also scoffed at someone proclaiming “the evil of an inanimate object” even as she bestows upon herself the ability to carry a gun in contravention to her own proclamations.
“I am not your subject,” Boston insists. “I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.” I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

You may not agree, but the world has become a dangerous place, and the left will do anything to exploit a tragedy - remember what Rahm Emanuel said - you just can't let a disaster go to waste, or some such garbage.
If the teachers and staff in that school in Connecticut had been armed, there would have been many, many children saved. My heart goes out to the families of these angels. But this was was a sick, sick man. You watch. He had major personality/emotional problems, and it is my bet he was using psychotropic drugs, watched and played violent video games until he could no longer tell the difference between right and wrong.
Don't let your children take these drugs. Don't let them play with violent video games or watch violence on tv that desensitizes them. I beg you. We learned a phrase in our high school Latin class - students must grow with a sound mind in a sound body. The Romans and Greeks had no psychotropic drugs other than herbs, I suppose, but they grew men who were warriors, excelled at physical fitness, who brought us art and culture. Men. Not confused emotional murderers, though as I remember, there were a few. Like now.
Do not surrender to the leftist propaganda that will drown you in coming weeks. Our Second Amendment would have kept these children and adults safe.
God bless you all who are broken-hearted tonight. May the wings of angels close around you and give you strength.
