WILD HORSES IN KEN SALAZAR'S (BLM) SIGHTS. REMOVAL PLANNED FROM PUBLIC LANDS TO REPLACE WITH GRAZING CATTLE
Ken Salazar, head of BLM, like Obama, is dead set to remove our culture, our heritage and our love of freedom and liberty to fundamentally change America. He wants to erase our history with the removal of these horses and burros whose ancestors made it possible to pull those wagons and packs, carry the families, and settle the west.
Wild, they are symbols of freedom and liberty, something the Obama administration wants us to forget entirely.
I believe I heard the number, 35,000 wild horses and burros (what happened to the Wild Horse and Burro Act that protected them?) vs. millions of grazing cattle on PUBLIC LAND THAT BELONGS TO US?
Please make this go viral. We have precious little power left even in our own lives. Let's surprise Salazar with a deluge of emails, faxes, phone calls.

The Workshop
This workshop will be limited to 12 participants, In order to take advantage of the best light, we will have two photo shoots each day, one in the early morning, and one in the late afternoon. In the middle of the day, we will have a two hour classroom session. The theme of this workshop will be learning how to improve your photographs of horses, and the workshop is suitable for amateur photographers who want to improve their skills as well as for experienced photographers who want to learn how to photograph horses. Carol will give hands on instruction before and during and after the shoots, so that you can learn as you are photographing in the field.

KEN SALAZAR, BLM, AND THE WAR AGAINST WILD HORSES AND BURROS FUNDED BY TAXPAYER MONEY
![]() |
Weekend Edition March 19, 2012 | |
In the first hour of Sunday's show, George Knapp was joined by wildlife ecologist Craig Downer to discuss America's magnificent wild horses that have been unfairly targeted for elimination in what he calls the Wild Horse Conspiracy. One of the most noble pieces of legislation was the Wild Horses and Burros Act (passed into law in 1971), said Downer, but since that time the BLM has sought to reduce the wild horse population to make more land available for ranchers' cattle. Reform is needed now in Congress, such as the Restore Our American Mustangs Act, he stated. People claim that the horses are an invasive species, but they are actually indigenous to North America and evolved here, he argued, adding that complete habitats for long term viable populations of 1,000 or more animals are crucial. Horse advocate Jerry Reynoldson joined Downer in the second hour, and talked about Madeleine Pickens' eco-sanctuary plan to take 1,000 horses onto 550,000 acres of public land, for less taxpayer money than what the ranchers are currently being paid. He noted that the competition for public lands and resources is very intense, and because the wild horses don't offer a revenue stream, the BLM tends to side with the ranchers. But Pickens wants to involve the public, with plans to build a children's learning center and campgrounds at the horse sanctuary site, he detailed. I listened to most of this last night in the wee hours. It is an excellent interview. These animals are part of our American heritage and they should be protected as such. Millions of acres of public land are leased to ranchers who sit on a committee along with three members of the Safari Club, which is an exclusive organization for trophy hunters of exotics on private ranches and members of the BLM to decide their fate. We need proponents of the wild horse and burro on that committee. They are American historical and cultural resources, a symbol of western expansion without whom we couldn't have accomplished. I stood on a hilltop in Montana one day and gazed out in the direction of the closest herds a hundred or more miles away. When you physically see the land from that perspective, you know there is NO way wild horses and burros could impact the land that serves the ranch grazing leases: millions of cattle vs. several thousands of wild horses and burros. Not in a million years. Ken Salazar has done a horrible job in his position as Secretary of the Bureau of Land Management. I hope we say goodbye to him shortly. |

WAY CLEARED FOR HORE SLAUGHTER TO RESUME IN THE USA AFTER 5 YEAR BAN

THIS SEEMS TO ME, ETHICALLY AND MORALLY WRONG AS WELL AS DISGUSTING AND DEPLORABLE FOR A MYRIAD OF REASONS.

BLM GUTS WILD HORSE AND BURRO ACT - PETITION HERE - PLEASE SIGN
today so I passed it on after tweeting.
No sooner did I click send, when I got this link:
http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2011/11/the-night-wild-horses-came-to-manhattan/248639/
The Obamabots, including BLM's Ken Salazar, are "disappearing" our heritage at every turn, gutting legislation that Wild Horse Annie worked a lifetime to pass, totally disregarding the Wild Horse and Burro Act.
If you have ever seen wild horse habitat, you will understand the enduring spirit and survival skills they have to exist. Ever take a boat out on Lake Mead? There are wild burros, and probably some wild horses there. There is little out there, but they survive.
Please support wild horses and burros by signing each petition that comes along, by calling or writing your Congressman and Senator. You all know by now that we are in a fight to the death for our country. Don't let "THEM" have it.

CAROL WALKER'S GREAT BLOG WILD HOOFBEATS AND AN UPDATE ON CLOUD'S HERD IN WYOMING - COMMENTS TO BLM REQUESTED.
Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, is rapidly decimating our wild horse (and burros) herds from the face of our wild, western landscape.
In the vast home of these wild horse and burro herds, where they have lived wild for centuries, the push is not for their benefit, and not only for grazing rights (horses and burros don't really compete, not in that wilderness), but for oil! There is further information in this blog (use the search bar, please, and enter wild horses) for a tremendously interesting video in two parts (I think) about this issue. The BLM is incredibly tenacious and destructive to our heritage which includes and honors wild horses and burros.
These roundups are not done on horseback - the animals are herded by helicopters which causes fear, injury and death.
My first burro, Samantha's first owners plucked her up off the desert on a trip to Arizona and brought her home as a foal. That was long ago when the BLM was not so brutal in their roundups. And then we have the Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 which seems to have gone away under Salazar.
Although horses and burros are not slaughtered in this country for meat, they do get shipped to Canada and Mexico, and if you want to see the videos, you will find them at Youtube and other sights. It is viscerally violent and ugly.
I hope you will be interested enough to send your comments as Carol suggests.

SLAUGHTER BAN - SENDING HORSES ACROSS THE BORDERS TO MEXICO AND CANADA ARE CAUSING MORE DAMAGE
Ah. So they were using a "backdoor" method to keep this from us? Well, a lot of us knew.
Now I think Ken Salazar and whoever is responsible should be fired.

NEW (OBAMA'S) BLM LAW WOULD LEAVE NEVADA LITTERED WITH DEAD WILD HORSES AND BURROS - HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT FOR HOPE AND CHANGE? FOR THESE, DEATH
I hope you take this seriously and act by calling your members of Congress/Senators.

This is abject cruelty. If you are reading this blog for the first time, there are other articles and one is a two-parter video and it is shocking. Please go there.

THERE'S A NEW MOVIE COMING OUT ABOUT AMERICA'S WILD HORSES
http://vimeo.com/20661260
LEARN MORE HERE AT THE LINKS ABOVE.
Wild horses and burros are very important to me. Money, power and corruption don't coexist well with them. So they have been villified and cruelly treated.
There is a lot on this blog about them - please type "wild horses" into the search bar I've provided for you.

THE WILD HORSE NEWSLETTER - IF BLM CAN'T ROUND THEM UP AND SELL THEM, JUST SHIP THEM TO SLAUGHTER....
This great newsletter came to me by way of Equine Photographer's Network. We have a war being waged about formerly protected Wild Horses and Burros (remember the ACT?) which is not being honored by Obama's BLM (or Bush's). And yes, they are being shipped to Mexico and Canada and slaughtered for dog food and shipped to other countries where horse and burro meat are prime table fare.
There are other articles and videos on this site - one will shock you. Our horses and burros are being victimized by oil and mining interests as well as big agra.
So if you are an animal lover, take the time to browse through this attachment and see what is being preyed upon by the very agency sworn to protect these incredible icon of freedom and the American West - our history - destined for inhumane roundup and eventual slaughter.
