The NRA isn't all what it's cracked up to be. It has done us serious damage before - as I remember in the early 90s, there was a bill - numbered, coincidentally, 666 about Second Amendment rights.
That was important legislation, and they let us down badly then. Since then, there have been other dubious decisions on their part, and I will tell you that at one time, we had a membership which we gave up because of 666, and not because of any religious connotation.
Gun Owners of America and Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership are the excellent alternative. Go visit their websites and do what you feel is best.
I have never missed NOT belonging to the NRA. That organization is not to be entrusted with our precious Second Amendment rights.
