Mr. Southerland has certainly become more conservative since he announced his decision to run for office. At the beginning of his campaign it seemed the favorite answer was "I believe in the balanced approach." Suddenly, he has positions. I find that interesting. He is NOT a conservative.
Steve Southerland is not only conservative, he's the only candidate in the race who has put some shoe leather to those deeply held principles. Steve is a founding member of the Bay Patriots, a group whose mission is teaching the constitution to Bay County school students. I'd rather hear someone start their answer with "I believe..." than to simply memorize the Heritage Foundation's handbook. A candidate that simply regurgitates the H.F.'s handbook is not a candidate whose heart you'll know.
