Spring Break is nearly over..
Spring Break is all about money. Your kids, credit cards in hand, are being exploited by tourist development councils all over the country. But I don't know about other towns. I just know about Panama City Beach, FL. That is the place I don't usually visit because of distance, but certainly NEVER during Spring Break. It's only about a 20 mile drive over a bridge.
Your children this year were among the craziest of drivers, driving US Highway 231, the road most of them from the southeast and northeast use. Driving this normally treacherous road, they zigged and zagged with youthful abandon, and watching them weave was heart stopping. We cringed to watch them hoping they would not harm us. Two vehicles following closely nearly sideswiped me as I was entering a left turn lane at a light. No sheriff or FHP in sight. I wasn't supposed to die that day is all I can say.
The Tourist Development Council spent millions of dollars on advertising via internet, newspapers, school newspapers, and stations like MTV (who was here this year), luring your children to come here to grow up fast in an alcoholic haze. As long as they spend their (your) dollars here within the county, it's all fine and dandy.
While here, your sons and daughters will begin drinking upon opening their eyes in the morning, because if your little angels are underage, there is sure to be an older upper classman enabling and providing for them. They will drive while drunk. They will get pregnant and may not even know who they were with because they were unconscious from alcohol or drugs. Experimentation is part of the fun. They will end up in hospitals because they were drunk, drugged or both and climb on balconies and hotel roofs and take nosedives to the cement below. If they are fortunate, they will escape with serious injuries. While driving drunk, they will hit pedestrians and kill or injure them. They will be so shitfaced drunk they will defecate, urinate and vomit wherever they must. This year over a thousand trashcans were used because the amount of trash was so tremendous and the numbers had to be increased.
They will trash hotel and motel rooms. They will get into drunken brawls. They will get STDs from unprotected sex. They will end up in jail for drunk and disorderly and add your money to the tills of law enforcement and the legal system.
They will have accidents in their vehicles or someone else's. I hope you are spared their death.
They will have accidents because they were in a party mood and not paying attention and that will kill others. Several lives were lost this year because of hit/runs.
Your virtuous sons and daughters will come home deflowered in more than one way. And maybe they will come home drug addicts. Spring Break is about experimentation. Sex, drugs and rock and roll. Sound familiar? It's just more intense now.
I hope this one post goes viral. I pray that you have the wisdom and the strength to say "no" to your children when they desperately want to join their friends on Spring Break anywhere in the world.
They are out of control, on purpose. It's not just sowing wild oats, which they will do anyway - but the concept of young people being persuaded to come to these spring break oases, is just about the money they will spend. No one here gives a hoot for your kid's safety. Certainly not
the people in charge of publicity.
We have condos and motel/hotel rooms staying empty because of the economy. The condos were overbuilt; the hospitality industry needs bodies to fill rooms. Your credit cards in the hands of your young adult children binge drinking cases and kegs of beer for a week or two mean the world to "us". If your children were hedgehogs with credit cards, they would be just as important to us too.
Panama City Beach has beautiful beaches, which you cannot see for the condos and hotel complexes. True - our water is beautiful and warm (well, maybe not this year), and the sand is fine, white and soft. But do you think your children would be interested in coming to Spring Break if this happened to be a dry county? A dry city?
Get real.
I wish the TDC would begin advertising heavily for families. Panama City Beach and surrounding areas are deep south. By that I mean that we haven't gone Miami, though there are some here who would drive us to that transformation.
We used to be called the Redneck Riviera. PCB is a short drive for the tri-staters to enjoy the sun and the Gulf of Mexico. The mom and pop motels have disappeared and replaced by condos which replaced the sand dunes; a crime against nature which makes it dangerous during hurricanes because the protection of the dunes is gone. You can barely see the water between the canyon walls of condos. That being said, there is plenty of opportunity to bring the family together here, to enjoy the sun, the Gulf and touristy things to do.
But don't let your kids loose in unfamiliar territory. They are a danger to themselves and to us.
They have lost their inhibitions. They are NOT going to behave like ladies or gentlemen. They are going to an orgy of thousands and they want to get to their destination as fast as possible so they can join it.
As a parent of a man who participated locally in spring break because of a part-time job, I can tell you that it's dangerous here for your kids. If you must send them off to spring break, why don't you take a vacation, too and come with them, or at the very least, keep the car keys. Maybe you can be the designated driver! Or maybe you could insist that they earn their own money for the trip. It's so expensive, they may not be able to save that much.
They'll hate you.
I'd rather have my kids hate me for a long time than to come here to the orgy on the beach.

UN Rules on Defamation of Religion
I live in a free country. Unfortunately, the UN sits on land donated by John D. Rockefeller in Manhattan, New York. The majority of the countries who belong to the UN are run by tyrants, lunatic dictators, semi-sane dictators, the power-craze, the globalists and royalty.
I grew up in a ethnically/religiously/racially mixed neighborhood. We knocked each others religion, race and color. We did it together. We laughed WITH each other over the jokes.
We also respected each other...in a free country, speaking freely, worshipping freely, standing straight up and free.
The UN has no business interfering with my country's freedoms because the people who so zealously adhere to the concept of the UN have never freed themselves.

Silly boy. Well, now maybe he'll remember it, finally, one Amendment at a time.
Remember my post on pilots having guns?
It linked to an article in the Washington Times, which has since been removed. Find it at the post above - Debra sent me a comment.
It's here, and so is another one, in addition to the page missing notice.
I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder who, who at the Washington Times decided to remove a First Amendment right from all of us who wrote and wanted to read it?

US House pases mandatory national service bill!
This is so dangerous - MANDATORY SERVICE. My grandchildren, your children now - even you aging boomers - are going to have to do mandatory service.
Does this not go against your grain? Is this the America of our childhood? We are FREE MEN AND WOMEN. We don't do this in America. We volunteer of our own volition.
And what about O's private million man army? Don't you understand what's happening? When you close your eyes at the end of the day, don't you feel like there's something wrong in America?

Editing JPEG images - do you lose data?
Q: My digital camera saves photos as JPEGs. Someone told me that JPEGs degrade every time you open them. Is simply viewing my photos really destroying them?
A: I'm afraid you've been misinformed. Your photos won't degrade when you open them. Rather, they degrade every time you edit and save them. The JPEG format uses lossy compression. Compression is used to keep file sizes small; it's common with photo formats. However, some data is discarded when JPEGs are compressed; hence the "lossy" part. And each time you edit and save a JPEG, it is further compressed. That means you lose a little data every time. However, most people won't notice the changeThursday, March 19, 2009
JOKE! What happened in 1947?
1947 Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little over 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies and organizations. However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born: Albert A. Gore, Jr. Hillary Rodham John F. Kerry William J. Clinton Howard Dean Nancy Pelosi Dianne Feinstein Charles E. Schumer Barbara Boxer Paul Brown See what happens when aliens breed with sheep? I certainly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It did for me. No wonder they support the bill to help illegal aliens! Now You Know. | ||

Woes of Chinese drywall in Florida
Score one for China - minus one for us.
Obama news today - Now he wants to disarm pilots.
http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_airline_pilots/2009/03/18/193314.html?s=al&promo_code=7C69-1
Pretty soon...
Well, you know.
Tell you what - I want my pilots and my stewardesses and my other guys - you know the ones - to look like they stepped out of a Sylvester Stallone/Rambo movie!
THEN I'D FEEL SAFE!
I want to fly as safely as he does, orNancy Pelosi or anyone in government . If he disarms the pilots, then he should fire the Secret Service guarding him and his family, and disarm Air Force 1. Does he think we are so stupid we can accept this?
You and I are at least as important as he is.
So then I suggest the steel door be removed from the cockpit; that it be replaced by a thin curtain so anyone who manages to smuggle something noxious or a weapon can have immediate and easy access in order to do mayhem and mass murder.
A pilot of an airplane isn't called "Captain" for nothing. Most pilots have military flight training. Sea captains are not unarmed. If an American plane is flying over other areas of the world, that is not American jurisdiction. And we all know now that terrorists are usually not American, unless of course they are women under great stress who end up strangled in their handcuffs, or under similar circumstances.
Unarmed pilots, passengers and crew contribute to that airplane being at the mercy of people and governments who would do us great harm. Go ahead, O. Your true colors are coming out...fast!
Because of this stupid, insane decision, I dearly hope pilots stop flying - for their sake and the safety of the passengers and crew. One or two weeks of a pilot strike would shock the shit out of Obama.
I hope that you won't fly a disarmed plane. To do so in this time of international unrest is akin to premeditated murder by our government.
All about wheat grinders (no kidding)!
Ever grind your own grain and make bread? Besides therapy as you knead the dough and fantasize about beating the hell out of someone (you can get as rough as you want - it's a good stress reliever) - you will be so proud of yourself.
I bought a grinder years ago. This year I bought 50 lbs. of red wheat (what you get in 100 per cent whole wheat bread), opened the container recently, and found the weevils had gotten to it. OK - the squirrels and doves loved it.
I didn't put bay leaves in it. Shame on me.
OK - so read if you're so inclined.
And enjoy - it tastes so much better than the bread you buy in the store. And it smells grand, baking. And have you noticed lately that bread left out in a warm spot, will last so long without molding, you'll really worry. What are they doing to it?

Sheriff Frank McKeithen
FDLE and Homeland Security have given him additional responsibility and power.
This is against his oath of office and against the US and Florida Constitutions. Didn't he ever hear of "posse commitatus"?
He should step down or refuse the new responsibilities.
If your Sheriff is involved in something like this, accepting federal funds to militarize his office, then he must step down, too.
From Michael Bane's Shooting Wire blog
For months, anyone who's proffered the position that the Obama Administration was anti-gun has been dismissed as being a variety of things, from sore loser to rampant paranoid. Nonetheless, since assuming office, members of the Obama administration have steadily- and stealthily- moved against firearms and ammunition.
Their only public blunder was Attorney General Holder's saying the "assault weapons ban" needed to be reinstated. Quickly, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi - no friend of gun owners - went on record as opposing Holder's suggestion. She went as far as to parrot the words of pro-gun groups, saying the government should enforce the laws on the books today, rather than introducing new laws.
At the same time, the State Department notified Canadian authorities of plans to issue an export ban on "military caliber ammunition" to Canada. That proposed action would prevent the sales of .223, .308 and other military calibers.
When Canadian authorities protested - and notified several members of the American media, the U.S. State Department suddenly went silent. But they quietly reinstated other rules and charges firearms exports-retroactive
While it seemed they had been headed off on one proposal, they had actually drawn attention away from other actions. If you're into incrementalism, that translates as a win.
Anything passed brings the ultimate goal that much closer.
Last Friday, the anglers and hunters were notified that the National Park Service planned to make all lands under their control totally lead-free by 2010. No lead in ammo or fishing tackle.
As we report in today's Outdoor Wire, that decision has kicked off howls of protests - and questions about the NPS trying to usurp states' rights by issuing their unilateral decision with no prior notification. It's definitely not going to be a decision without some serious discussions. That still doesn't mean the NPS will back off on their decision.
All these things are racing along on parallel tracks. Now, many observers - and not just those on the pro-gun side of the discussion - believe the country is hurtling toward a confrontation.
The catalyst might be any one of several flashpoint issues, but both groups seem to believe a reckoning is unavoidable.
For months, I've gotten reports of everything from re-tasking of military heavy assault units for domestic violence scenarios to calls for "committees of correspondence" designed to spread news the way word was spread by citizens of the then-British colonies.
In each instance, I've discounted the reports as internet hysteria that has produced breathless notices of "the real-deal on the new assault weapon ban"- or references to HR45 - a gun registration bill that is a prime example of "eyewash legislation"
Part of that discounting has been due to the fact that hot-blooded rhetoric seems to run along with firearms ownership.
To the chagrin of industry officials, there's never a shortage of people willing to go on camera, get red-faced and spout "from my cold dead hands" phrases.
Admittedly, those people concern me, but more for their reinforcement of a negative stereotype to people who have no opinion one way or the other on firearms.
Today, however, a report that has nothing to do with rhetoric, hyperbole or rumor.
A very disturbing report that points to a very real assault on ammunition supplies.
The Department of Defense has issued a directive that bans the sale of military brass to ammunition re-manufacturers.
Without that brass, a very large dent is put into civilian ammunition supplies.
New Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS) requirements call for the "mutilation of shell casings". Mutilation, incidentally, is the destruction of the property "to the extent that prevents its reuse or reconstruction"
Government officials will determine what constitutes "sufficient mutilation" but it's safe to say that it will no longer be suitable for remanufacturing.
The first word of this latest decision came over the weekend when Georgia Arms' Larry Haynie released a letter notifying him of the new requirement.
For a company with an order in for 30,000 pounds of expended military brass in .223, .308 and .50 BMG, that was not a pleasant notification.
Georgia Arms was remanufacturing more than one million rounds of .223 ammunition monthly; selling that ammo on the civilian market to resellers and to government agencies all over the country.
Tomorrow, Georgia Arms will start sending cancellation notices for .223 ammunition to law enforcement agencies across the United States. Haynie says he may have to layoff half of his sixty-person workforce.
The message is simple. The implication is chilling.
A new welcome page posted on Georgia Arms' website (www.georgia-
>From there, it directs visitors to the government website for contacting elected representatives.
All of us need to start contacting our elected representatives -and telling them, quite directly, that we're not going to put up with a move that not only curtails access to ammunition (nearly all .223 and .308 manufacturing capacity is tied up to satisfy the needs of the military) for civilians - but wastes taxpayers' money turning usable surplus into scrap metal.
Reducing the ammo brass to scrap reduces the value of the metal/surplus by nearly eighty percent. It also means that recast brass - in shippable form - may be shipped to China, one of the largest markets for U.S. metals on the world market.
If this is allowed to go unchallenged, anyone who owns a modern or traditional rifle in .223 or .308 calibers will see the impact- probably sooner than later.
"Anyone" in this context means everyone from recreational shooters to law enforcement trainers.
Pulling military brass out of the consumer supply chain means that all the manufacturing capacity being dedicated to meeting the military need will effectively become unavailable to civilians - forever.
Export rulings, lead bans, and brass mutilation orders from separate areas of the federal government look coincidental - on the surface. I'm not big on conspiracy theories - partially because I doubted the new administration would have gotten its collective act together so rapidly.
Seems I've been wrong on that one - and mistakenly using the word "hoard" when talking about the nearly-insatiable demand for ammunition that continues across the country. Today, laying up of ammunition might be better described as prudent preparation for possible problems.
States are beginning to serve notice to the federal government they will not enforce laws that violate individual rights. The federal government seems intent on creating a society with increasingly higher numbers of people dependent on the government for either sustenance or employment. Average citizens are beginning to grow tired of being asked to "tote the note" for others' irresponsibility.
These are, indeed, uncertain times.
Today, it's important that every reader take time to notify Congress that we - taxpayers - oppose this latest DOD move- and all the other not-so-subtle moves against gun owners.
You can contact your elected officials in Washington by going to this webpage http://www.usa.
One key member of the United States Senate is Montana's Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Baucus could make a call to the Pentagon and let them know their budgets might be reexamined if they don't reconsider this latest directive. At that point, the directive might labeled a "misunderstanding" and rescinded.
But it is important that we keep pressure on Congress.
If that means phone calls, e-mails, and letters, let's get that done. If that doesn't produce results, we need to look beyond symbolic gestures like sending tea bags or bringing hundreds of thousands of gun owners to Washington and state capitols to protest.
These are, indeed, uncertain times. But the time for uncertain actions may be passing.
We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, maintain situational awareness.

Col. Bob Pappas on Barbra Streisand (B.S.) and Obama

Barbra Streisand (B.S.) and Obama
by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired
Am I seeing spots before my eyes and hear ringing in my ears? Or have the prophets of doom and gloom changed their tune? Wasn’t it just a month ago that Obama and his lemmings were spouting that the economy was in such dire crisis that catastrophe was eminent without the economic stimulus bill? But, alas, now that same Obama and his propaganda arm at ABC, CBS, MSNBC are telling Americans a month later, to the effect that the “Stimulus” is already working and things are getting better and all will soon be okay.
In fact on Sunday Obama’s economic adviser Christina Romer affirmed during an NBC interview that the “fundamentals of the economy are sound.” Does anyone remember that from the campaign? Who uttered those words? It wouldn’t have been Senator McCain would it?
Who has the keys to the Golden Gate Bridge today? Evidently Obama’s lemmings are lining up to bid on them. Do I want the economy to improve? Of course I do. But Obama’s leadership thus far hardly inspires confidence; no surprise there especially since he informed us that he planned to totally change the economic system, spread the wealth around, and totally change the United States. I’m for change, but the right kind, not the kind that takes from those who work and gives to those who don’t nor have a desire to work.
Evidently Obama got the word that “words, just words” have an effect when those “words, just words” come out of the mouth of the President of the United States; President that is, if Obama is actually eligible to be, unless this whole thing turns out to be the biggest political hoax ever perpetrated.
Which reminds me, if Obama is so “transparent” why is he spending large sums of money to keep his birth, education and medical records so tightly sealed? All that does is further the atmosphere of distrust; and all the while I had the impression that he was out to “change” all of that especially since he told us that he would have the most ethical Administration in history.
Obama has brought “change we can believe in” alright. It this weren’t so serious it would make great comedy on SNL; but, on second thought I doubt SNL would have the guts to touch it with a ten foot pole.

Washington Times Editorial in Global Gun Control
Always remember the Hegelian theory. It's somewhere down the line in my former posts and I don't have time to look it up.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/16/global-gun-control/
I heard "we" are smuggling weapons across the border. Well, where do these assault weapons come from...could it be someone in our government distributing it? Citizens can't do it.
