Ever hear or wonder about the origin of the infamous Sullivan Law, which prohibits gun ownership in New York?

Here it is explained. Now I understand. The law was to protect the criminals, not law abiding citizens like my father, who willingly gave up a magnificent vintage shotgun because he wanted to be a good citizen.

I never knew why. I was just a little girl - maybe sever, but the beauty of the Damascus barrel and the graceful lines of the gun itself always impressed me as fine art.

I guess he was afraid of a house-to-house search. Had he needed it for our protection, we were left defenseless. Just something to think about when you read about this really sinister, illegal law which needs to be rescinded.

Gun Owners of America Voter List

In case you don't know (and to some of you, the NRA is sacrosanct), GOA is not as entrenched in the viper pit of American politics as the NRA. The NRA is responsible for a great amount of compromise in legislation, which is the antithesis of the Bill of Rights, and a violation of the Second Amendment.

(Don't believe me, please - just go and look it all up.)

This is the GOA take on Election 2008.

(And while you're browsing through GOA, you will find a section for women. I wrote "Shotgun in the Closet", about my father and the Sullivan Law in New York. To be a good citizen, he willingly gave up a magnificent shotgun with a Damascus barrel, which should have been passed down to his grandson. My father was human and made mistakes.)
