YOU FOUND A BABY BIRD! HERE'S WHAT TO DO...

http://www.wild-bird-watching.com/Baby_Birds.html

It occurred to me that it's nesting season, and that means, after every wind or rain you have during spring - watch where you step? Could be there's no room in the nest, and one is elbowed out to fall to the ground.

So what do you do?

If you don't want to raise it yourself, using guidelines for orphaned baby birds, bring it to a local wildlife rehabilitator. Your animal control or your local Fish and Game should be able to help you locate one in the vicinity. If that doesn't work, call your pet shops. If they can't help you, then you're going to spend a couple of weeks that will be great fun for you, your family and your friends.

There are lots of links to wild baby bird diets. They need to be kept at least room temperature, out of drafts. Paper towels and toilet paper are great for a nest and disposable.

The babies will struggle to the edge of the nest and leave a fecal capsule after feeding, which can be as much as every 15 minutes for a little while.

Keep the cage away from cats, dogs and curious little hands.

A margarine or butter tub makes a great nest, and you can use a small pet carrier, or even a cardboard box but make sure you can see it because that little mouth will open when it's hungry.
