The White House indicated they did not have enough time to thoroughly study the project—apparently, three years of study is not enough. The White House’s cynical choice puts political gamesmanship above the national interest. There are reports that Iran is threatening to choke off one-sixth of the world's oil supply by closing the Strait of Hormuz if Washington imposes sanctions targeting the country's crude exports. Sanctions based on disapproval of Iran's nuclear programs.  Iran has also threatened to do this if attacked by Israel, who can't seem to keep their plans to attack Iran a secret.  Frustrating world oil supplies brings a lot of nations to the table and they are not all on the side of the west.   There is, as of yet, no EVIDENCE that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons.
