I had to place an older Rottweiler who had a medical "skill". The dog was trained to wake her owner up in case of diabetic shock or coma while she was asleep.
While we couldn't say she was professionally trained, her new owner's husband had diabetes and they had confidence in her abilities.
Don't ever estimate your family dog. They have highly developed senses that through evolution, we have lost. Devotion will win out. Always listen to them.
